Previously, after the new U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Campbell took office, the first country he visited was Mongolia, during the visit, Campbell put forward the hope of strengthening cooperation with Mongolia, mainly to deepen mineral cooperation, including the use of aircraft to transport Mongolia's rare earth resources and other related matters. However, the general analysis of the outside world points out that what Campbell or the United States wants is not just Mongolia's coal or rare earths, but to deepen the influence of the United States in Mongolia, so as to achieve the sinister purpose of inserting the so-called "wedge" between China and Russia, which is really hateful.
Sure enough, the relevant departments of the Mongolian Embassy in Russia have recently publicly stated that the United States has formally requested Mongolia to establish a military base there this time. Obviously, the United States has taken a fancy to Mongolia's deep interior of Asia and its key strategic position between China and Russia. Fortunately, Mongolia is still very sober-minded, and it is not confused on this important matter, and it has directly and sternly rejected the unreasonable demands of the United States.
In fact, it is not surprising that Mongolia made such a decision. After all, compared with the United States, which will only bring military risks to Mongolia, expanding cooperation with China and Russia can really bring real benefits to Mongolia, and once the US troops are stationed in Mongolia, this move will inevitably push Mongolia to the cusp of confrontation with China and Russia, which will bring tremendous strategic pressure to Mongolia on the one hand, and on the other hand, it will also make Mongolia miss a good opportunity to expand economic cooperation and develop its economy with China and Russia.
In fact, Mongolia, with a population of only a few million and an economy highly dependent on mining, has close economic cooperation with China (after all, there is no shortage of mines in Russia). According to the statistics of relevant departments, Mongolia's total economic output is more than $20 billion, and its total trade with China is as high as more than $16 billion! This shows the depth of Mongolia's dependence on China in the economic field. In addition to direct economic cooperation, Mongolia also needs China's support in infrastructure construction and renewable energy. For example, not long ago, Mongolian Prime Minister Oyun Erden met with the Chinese ambassador to Mongolia and asked for Chinese help to improve the railway infrastructure in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia.
It can be seen that under such circumstances, Mongolia will never risk offending China and Russia by agreeing to the request for the stationing of US troops. Moreover, the Mongolian prime minister is still busy arranging a summit of "China, Russia, and Mongolia" and is preparing to put forward the demand that the Sino-Russian trade and energy corridor "transit" Mongolia! In the face of the tremendous benefits of "lying down" tolls, the United States' "fooling" is really not convincing.
It is worth noting that just after the request of the United States to garrison was sternly rejected by Mongolia, Mongolia invited the People's Liberation Army to Mongolia to participate in the joint training of the China-Mongolia "Steppe Partner-2024" army.
