At around 5 a.m. on April 27, a Japanese research ship entered the sea only 6 kilometers from the Diaoyu Islands.
Although there was also an "environmental survey" in January last year, this time it was clearly very different from last year. Last year, it was only a ship from the Coast Guard, but this time it was accompanied by members of Congress, not only to harass, but to provoke China's sovereignty over the Diaoyu Islands.
In addition, there are many ships sent by the Japanese side this time, about a dozen ships. According to the Japanese side's intentions, after entering the Diaoyu Islands, they will send drones to shoot them to declare their "sovereignty".
Japan's small abacus was quite loud, but it was stopped by the Chinese coast guard in the sea area 6 kilometers away from the Diaoyu Islands, and the drone naturally had no chance to release it to declare its so-called "sovereignty". China's intention to intercept this time is different from the past
Last year, our side cruised the waters off the Diaoyu Islands for more than 350 days, and every time Japan tried to trespass on the Diaoyu Islands, it was stopped by the mainland coast guard in a timely manner, including this one. It can be said that the Chinese side has taken complete control of the Diaoyu Islands and will absolutely not allow the Japanese side to land on the islands again at will.
However, this time the block has a different meaning. The first is the disregard for the U.S.-Japan Security Treaty. The United States and Japan have repeatedly "proclaimed" that fishing is suitable for the so-called security treaty. To put it simply, if China uses military force to attack Japan in the area where it is "governed," the United States and Japan can join forces to deal with China.
Although the Chinese coast guard only drives away each time, if the United States and Japan have to be more serious, it can also be said to be an armed attack, after all, they sometimes use water cannons or ship collisions to drive away, and they can also use this as an excuse to launch a counterattack against China. The United States and Japan are clamoring so much, but in fact, they don't dare to really take action against China. Even if we make a move, we are not afraid, after all, whether it is in military or economic strength, we have enough strength.
Second, this interception is also a provocation aimed at striking at Japan's strong political connotation. In the past, when the Japanese side planned to trespass on the Diaoyu Islands, it would not have sent five Japanese parliamentarians at once, nor would it have dispatched so many ships. But this time, both the parliamentarians and the number of ships are large, and it is clear that they are provoking China at the political level. If they are allowed to succeed, there will be more and more such actions in the future, and Japan will become more and more arrogant, and we absolutely cannot allow such a situation to occur. China's successful interception this time has dealt a blow to Japan's political provocations, and there may not be more such actions in the future.
Why did Kishida escalate his provocation this time?
It is very likely that Japan's action this time is to learn from the Philippines, and this may be due to the United States, which wants to disperse the mainland coast guard forces by means of the Philippines in the South China Sea and Japan in the East China Sea at the same time.
In addition, it is also possible that Japan's actions are preparing for the "constitutional amendment." As a defeated country in World War II, their military development has always been bound by the "Peace Constitution". Although Japan has done a lot of things that violate the "pacifist constitution" with the help of the United States, if this tight circle is not taken down, Japan will never be able to develop openly and justifiably. In fact, the confrontation with China is also aimed at stirring up populist sentiment in China and allowing it to smoothly "amend the constitution".
In addition, Kishida also wants to ease his domestic pressure through confrontation with China on the Diaoyu Islands. Recently, the yen's exchange rate has plummeted, and Japan's inflation is severe and the economy has been severely damaged, which has led to a serious decline in Kishida's approval rating. In order to alleviate the pressure, Kishida can only move the domestic contradictions outward, so that he does not have to be so anxious.
