According to Thai media news, on April 29, Thailand's former Minister of Tourism and Sports Ms. Sudawan revealed that every year from May to September (rainy season) is Thailand's tourism off-season, in order to implement the government's policy instructions for 365 days a year as a tourism day, a marketing promotion plan has been formulated for an important short-distance market - Malaysian tourists.

Data from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports showed that between 1 January and 25 April 2024, 1,503,420 Malaysian tourists visited Thailand, an increase of 21.61 per cent year-on-year, and the resumption of international flights reached 83.59 per cent compared to 2019. And during the Eid al-Fitr festival on April 10-12, there was a significant increase in Malaysian tourists to Thailand.

Therefore, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and relevant departments and agencies have discussed and built on the success of the 2024 Maha Songkran Festival to organize large-scale events for the Malaysian tourist market in accordance with the relevant policies. Highlights include the top 5 things to do in Thailand, as well as events such as seafood festivals, beach music, art performances, and walking street shopping in the Samira area of Songkhla Province.

At the same time, there are plans to create a commercial to promote the rainy season tourism, attracting Malaysian family tours and self-drive groups to visit Songkhla, Satun, Botharun and Nakhon Siemat in southern Thailand.
