On the morning of April 30, as an important project to lead the improvement and development of North Sichuan Road through innovation, the Duolun Road Urban Renewal Project started, and the meritorious service competition, the "No. 3 Joint Creation" and the creation of a demonstration site for integrity culture were launched simultaneously.

Hongkou is known as "the birthplace of Shanghai-style culture, the source of advanced culture, and the gathering place of cultural celebrities", and Duolun Road is also known as "the important town of modern literature", where literary giants such as Lu Xun, Mao Dun, Guo Moruo, and Ye Shengtao lived, and left-wing writers such as Ding Ling and Roushi carried out literary activities here.
Duolun Road Urban Renewal Project is located in the historical and cultural area of Shanyin Road, adjacent to Duolun Road Cultural Celebrity Street, with a special location and profound heritage, which is very important for the overall upgrading and transformation of North Sichuan Road and the acceleration of the construction and urban renewal of Hongkou City.

With a total construction area of nearly 220,000 square meters, the urban renewal project will make full use of its superior location advantages and cultural resources of Duolun Road to create a new landmark in the region. The project consists of three thematic areas: Inspiration Oasis, Elegant Luxury Community and Poetic Elegance, which are divided into Phase I and Phase II according to the overall design plan, and are expected to be completed in May 2028.
The first phase of the project is planned to create a TOD-led business group, and create a benchmark for regional office image through high-end building image, large-scale public space, differentiated industry introduction, and rich commercial facilities, which is planned to be completed in December 2026.

The second phase of the project will connect the century-old alleys such as McNarry and Liulinli with the commercial street of North Sichuan Road, positioning it as a commercial service-oriented cultural style group, fully excavating the core of "pioneer culture" of Duolun Road, embedding elements of humanities, art and national tide, establishing an internationally renowned new cultural landmark in Shanghai, and reshaping the new image of Duolun in the past century.

The project will also systematically build a fashionable living space that integrates cultural, commercial, travel and residential functions and is open to the public through the creation of multiple functional blocks such as commercial transformation belt, Duolun cultural core area, office comprehensive area and mixed development belt.
The Duolun Road Urban Renewal Project is an urban renewal project focused on by Dongfu Company of China Construction Eighth Bureau, and it is also the first work of the revival of the historical and cultural landscape area of Shanyin Road. Wang Jiahong, general manager of the Duolun Road Urban Renewal Project of Dongfu Company of China Construction Eighth Bureau, said that he will adhere to the road of high-end, promote the organic combination of historical landscape protection, urban function improvement and spatial environment quality improvement, so that the century-old humanistic community will be rejuvenated and revitalized.

In order to efficiently promote the development of the project and create a new benchmark for "government and enterprise co-construction", on the occasion of "May Day" and "May Fourth Youth Day", the Duolun Road Urban Renewal Project "Party Member Vanguard, Worker Vanguard, and Youth Commando" was also formed, and jointly built a "Integrity Culture Demonstration Site".
As a youth representative, Zheng Zhiqiang, manager of the project management department of the Duolun Road Urban Renewal Project of Dongfu Company of China Construction Eighth Bureau, said that it is necessary to pay attention to learning, deeply understand the unique value of the historical and cultural area, grasp the cultural context and architectural style of Duolun Road, and clarify the focus and requirements of protection. At the same time, it is also necessary to give full play to innovative thinking, be good at seeking new solutions, and make full use of modern scientific and technological means to inject new vitality into the project.
Urban renewal is the eternal theme of urban development. At present, Hongkou is going all out to speed up the construction of "Shanghai North Bund, a new benchmark for the city", and make every effort to create an important display window for Chinese-style modernization. In 2024, the district party committee and the district government will issue a three-year action plan for the improvement and development of North Sichuan Road, which will be accelerated as one of the top ten improvement actions to be carried out. At present, the construction of many projects in the block has been accelerated and substantially promoted. In the first quarter, 176 neighborhoods and Delin apartments started to be renovated, the construction of Bingang Commercial Center and Shanghai Literature Museum was accelerated, commercial complexes such as CITIC Plaza, Tianxing Department Store and Swan Hotel were transformed and upgraded, and a number of Libao and Li Lane houses were repaired, and the comprehensive municipal and environmental improvement projects were solidly promoted.
