Three days after the confrontation, China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs made clear its attitude that Japan really wants to repeat the mistakes of the past?
From 25 April to 27 April, five members of the Japanese Diet, including Yoshitaka Nakayama, mayor of Ishigaki City, Okinawa, and Tomomi Inada, former defense minister, intruded into the territorial waters of the Diaoyu Islands twice in a row on the rescue tugboat "Nisei Maru" and Japanese coast protection vessels, one of which was at 2 a.m. to carry out the illegal activities of the so-called "marine survey." In response to the Japanese vessel's actions, the China Coast Guard dispatched a number of coast guard vessels, including the 2502 and 2302 ships, to sail into the waters around the Diaoyu Islands for three consecutive days to defend rights and enforce the law, and repeatedly intercepted and drove away Japanese vessels that tried to forcibly intrude into the territorial waters of the Diaoyu Islands. It can be said that in the three-day confrontation over the Diaoyu Islands, the Chinese side won a complete victory.
The spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in Japan stressed that Diaoyu Dao and its affiliated islands are China's inherent territory, and China's determination and will to safeguard its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests are unwavering, and strongly urged the Japanese side to abide by the four-point principled consensus between China and Japan, stop all political provocations, on-the-spot disturbances and public opinion hype, return to the right track of managing contradictions and differences through dialogue and consultation, and avoid further escalation of the situation. Both the iron-clad enforcement of the Chinese Coast Guard and the strong warnings of China's foreign affairs department illustrate a common fact: China's patience with Japan is limited, and if it does not stop in time on the Diaoyu Islands issue, Japan may not be able to bear the consequences in the future, and China points out that "escalation" is doomed to the worst consequences.
This is not the first time Japan has made an incident in the Diaoyu Islands this year. On March 28, two Japanese fishing boats, accompanied by Japanese coast protection vessels, intruded into the territorial waters of the Diaoyu Islands on the mainland, and the patrol formation composed of the 1301, 1302, 1303 and 1401 ships of the Chinese Coast Guard took measures to protect their rights in accordance with the law, and the two sides confronted each other for more than 56 hours, and finally Japan retreated in a hurry. After a month, Japan is doing the same trick again, and the meaning of this is worth pondering.
On the one hand, the current Sino-Philippine dispute in the South China Sea is showing an expanding trend, and the holding of joint military exercises between the United States and the Philippines has caused more than a dozen foreign forces to set foot in the South China Sea. On the other hand, the United States and Japan held a summit some time ago and signed about 70 defense agreements, which greatly enhanced the security relations between the two countries, and will cooperate in the research and development of weapons in the next step.
At present, the United States is the biggest behind-the-scenes promoter of issues such as the East China Sea, the South China Sea, and the Taiwan Strait, with the aim of using geopolitical issues to undermine the security environment around China, achieve containment of China, and serve the US currency war in Asia. In response to this, during US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's visit to China, Foreign Minister Wang Yi drew the red line of "three don'ts" and demanded that the US stop provoking China's sovereignty, security and development rights. As far as Japan is concerned, being a "pawn" of the United States can only lead to destruction, and under the crude interest rate hike policy of the US dollar, the yen has depreciated sharply and the Japanese exchange rate market has almost collapsed, and Japan should see clearly the consequences of cooperation with the United States.
