Article 7.1.2-3:
Article 7.1.2-3 explains: When the column cross-section is large and the inner partition does not affect the pouring quality of the concrete in the pipe, it is advisable to use the inner partition type beam and column connection, otherwise it is advisable to use the outer partition type beam and column connection.

6. CECS 28-2012 Technical specification for concrete-filled steel tube structures
Clause 6.4.1: When the diameter of the concrete-filled steel tubular column is small, the outer reinforcing ring between the steel beam and the concrete-filled steel tube column can be used to connect (Fig. 6.4.1-1), and the outer reinforcing ring shall be a closed full ring surrounding the concrete-filled steel tube column (Fig. 6.4.1-2). The outer reinforcing ring and the outer wall of the steel pipe should be connected by full penetration weld, and the outer reinforcing ring and the steel beam should be connected by bolt welding. The thickness of the outer reinforcing ring should not be less than the thickness of the flange of the steel beam, and the width c should not be less than 0.7 times the width of the flange of the steel beam.
Clause 6.4.2: When the diameter of the concrete-filled steel tube column is large, the steel beam and the concrete-filled steel tube column can be connected by an inner reinforcing ring.

Summary:
1. The use of the outer partition is mainly aimed at the situation that the inner partition affects the pouring quality of the concrete in the pipe;
2. If the concrete is not poured in the pipe, the inner partition is preferred;
3. You can refer to Article 7.0.4-1 of TCECS 625-2019 Technical Specification for Recycled Concrete Structures of Steel Pipes, with a diameter of > 800mm or ≤800mm, to measure whether to choose to use an external partition;
4. Pay attention to the quality of the weld connection between the outer partition and the column welding: it should not be lower than the secondary weld of full penetration.
