Dispel the myth of reading

"There are thousands of bells in the book, and there is a golden house in the book. "This is a concept that Chinese parents go to great lengths to instill in their children. Even if your parents haven't told you this, you've heard things like "If you study hard, you can do easy jobs in the future."

My parents said the same thing, and as a result, I was convinced of the power of reading.

When I was a teenager, when watching TV series, the protagonists all loved to read, and the trait of loving reading was a weapon for the protagonist to turn the tables against the wind. At that time, the popular Korean dramas, "Queen Mingcheng" and "Da Changjin", the protagonists in it, one loves to read history books, and the other reads medical books diligently, and finally turned the tables from a bleak life.

Since then, I have become more superstitious about the power of reading, as if a bright future beckons to me.

It wasn't until I was in high school that our history teacher gave us a slap in the face: "'Using history as a book, we can know the rise and fall', and the emperor will look at history books to see political experience." For ordinary people, what is the use of history books? ”

This teacher is recognized as the most knowledgeable history teacher in the school, and his peers have admired his collection of books. During class, he would always tell us anecdotes that other teachers wouldn't say.

When I heard this, I was surprised and a little unbelievable, as for the truth of this statement, it will be confirmed in the years to come. Unfortunately, the teacher's words are mostly true.

I thought I had read enough history books to be able to read people, but the eldest sister who sold vegetables stole my name and didn't know it. I thought I could turn the wisdom in the book into a workplace force, but it always turned out to be self-defeating. I thought that I loved to read, and one day fate would be able to turn the tables against the wind, but so far, the gears of fate have not moved.

Dispel the myth of reading

Once or twice, people will politely praise me as a "talented girl", not because I speak extraordinarily, but because my glasses are thick. Hey, people are polite, I can think of my own image, thick glasses, wooden expression, is a "nerd" or almost the same.

One day, I saw a story in "Strange Tales from Liaozhai". A scholar has been fond of books since he was a child, and when he grows up, he does not produce and eats nothing. One day, according to the place mentioned in the ancient book, he really dug up an urn of grain, and the scholar was more determined that "there are thousands of bells in the book", but it is a pity that the grain has been carbonized, and it can neither be eaten nor used as seeds.

I suddenly woke up: no matter how superstitious I am about the myth of reading, sooner or later I will be like this scholar.

Dispel the myth of reading

As a result, the myth of reading was completely shattered. Since lowering my expectations for reading, I have become much more relaxed.
