Buick is probably the most dependent American car brand in the Chinese market, Buick sold 517,000 new cars in the Chinese market last year, compared to only 167,000 in the US market, which explains why Buick has launched a number of special models and concept cars in the Chinese market, such as the two Electra concept cars - Electra-L and Electra-LT - unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show a few days ago.
The two new concept cars are based on the Autonen architecture, of which the Electra-L concept car is positioned as a medium and large sedan, with a body length of 5036mm and a wheelbase of 3000mm, and the body size is close to that of BMW i5, Mercedes-Benz EQE and other models. It is reported that the design of the Electra-L concept car is inspired by the Buick Wildcat concept car released in 2022, but from the perspective of appearance and positioning, the Electra-L is closer to mass production.
Specifically, the Electra-L concept car has a fairly smooth body line, with a large body shape and a bulging waistline, which is sporty and muscular. The front face continues the latest design language of the Buick family, with cornice-style shapes and sharp headlights, and a parametric quilted decorative light strip is also designed to enhance the sense of technology and recognition.
The rear of the new car adopts a large slip-back shape, with a dome-style roof curve that reaches to the rear, and is also equipped with continuous taillights with a slightly upturned ducktail shape, bringing a strong sporty momentum. As a new energy vehicle, the Electra-L concept car is equipped with intelligent hovering frameless electric suction doors, hidden door handles, electronic exterior mirrors, and low-drag wheels made of titanium alloy, shaped like a turbofan, with both fashion and a sense of technology.
Another Electra-LT concept car is positioned as a hunting coupe, combining the characteristics of a coupe SUV and a station wagon, which is quite stylish and sporty. The front of the car is basically the same as the Electra L, except that the quilted trim band is removed, and a large number of black trim pieces and blackened headlights are added for a more sporty look.
As a hunting vehicle, the Electra-LT Concept is equipped with electronic exterior mirrors, "titanium armor" wheels and an aerodynamic roof box to carry skis, surfboards, bicycles and other types of gear. It also offers adaptive air suspension that increases ground clearance by 40mm as needed.
In the interior part, the two cars share the same design of the cockpit, adopting a minimalist design style, equipped with eConnect intelligent cabin system, supporting 7-screen interconnection, equipped with a suspended central control screen, a hidden co-pilot entertainment screen, front adaptive seats, environmentally friendly suede material, intelligent fragrance system, etc., and the most innovative is that the rear row is equipped with a floating tea table, with a Console induction cooker, you can enjoy a leisurely tea time.
Both the Buick Electra-L Concept and the Electra-LT Concept are based on GM's Autonom architecture, and will be powered by a rear-mounted electric motor with a maximum power of 255kW. At present, the official has not released detailed power and range information, but said that the new car will have a pure electric range of more than 700km under CLTC mode.
