On April 25, the 17th plenary (expanded) meeting of the Provincial Taihu Lake Water Pollution Prevention and Control Committee and the Taihu Lake Safety Summer Emergency Prevention and Control Work Conference was held in Yixing, thoroughly implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization and General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on Taihu Lake governance, conscientiously implementing the decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, and arranging the key tasks of Taihu Lake governance this year in accordance with the work requirements of the Provincial Party Committee, promoting new progress in Taihu Lake governance every year, and realizing the fundamental improvement of the water environment quality in the basin as soon as possible.

The governance of Taihu Lake is the "great man of the country" that General Secretary Xi Jinping has repeatedly emphasized. The Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government insist on taking the governance of Taihu Lake as a landmark project for the construction of ecological civilization in Jiangsu, and carry out a new round of comprehensive treatment of Taihu Lake with greater efforts and higher standards, which has promoted the significant improvement of the algae situation in the water quality of Taihu Lake, which has been safe for 16 consecutive years and the best level of algae quality in 16 years. At present, the water quality of Taihu Lake is in the critical period, critical period and window period from quantitative change to qualitative change and achieving "stable and up to standard", we must strengthen our confidence and determination, maintain tenacity in our work, seize all favorable opportunities, make use of all favorable conditions, ensure the realization of "two guarantees and two mentions" with high quality, and accelerate the historic breakthrough in the water quality of Taihu Lake.

It is necessary to continue to improve the governance efficiency of Taihu Lake, focus on the western area of the lake, the rivers entering the lake, and the first- and second-level protection areas of Taihu Lake, and accelerate the construction of Taohu Lake and Zhuhu Lake into "pre-reservoirs" and "purification pools" for transferring water into Taihu Lake, so as to form more tangible governance results.
It is necessary to comprehensively strengthen the construction and management of environmental infrastructure, speed up the completion of the shortcomings of urban domestic sewage and garbage collection and treatment facilities and equipment, actively promote the county-wide governance of rural domestic sewage, take the lead in breaking the problem in ecological and low-carbon agriculture, and lead the demonstration in agricultural and rural pollution control.
It is necessary to pay close attention to outstanding ecological and environmental problems, strengthen follow-up supervision, track and ask for results, and resolutely and thoroughly rectify and correct them in place according to requirements, time limits and standards, so as to ensure that the results of rectification can stand the test of history.
It is necessary to solidly promote the ecological protection and restoration of the Taihu Lake Basin, continuously improve aquatic biodiversity, build an ecological wetland circle around the lake as a whole, accelerate a new round of ecological dredging, actively expand the ways of silt disposal, and improve the stability and service functions of the ecosystem.
It is necessary to jointly promote the high-quality development and high-level protection of the river basin, continue to optimize the spatial pattern, accelerate the development of new quality productivity according to local conditions, vigorously promote green and low-carbon pilot demonstrations, deepen the rectification of phosphorus-related enterprises, and continuously improve the "green content" and "gold content" of high-quality economic development.
Before the meeting, Xu Kunlin came to the Linggu Chemical Sewage Treatment Upgrading Project and the Nanxi River "Sanjiu Wetland" Ecological Restoration Project to inspect the "zero discharge" resource utilization, water quality regulation and water ecosystem restoration of industrial sewage. He emphasized that green development is the background color of high-quality development, and new quality productivity itself is green productivity. It is necessary to actively guide the green and low-carbon transformation and upgrading of the traditional manufacturing industry, continuously strengthen the intensity, breadth and depth of green technology innovation, and form more replicable and promotable achievements in the development of green productivity.
