Wu Yan fully affirmed the contributions made by Tsinghua University and the Online Education Research Center of the Ministry of Education to online education in China and the world in the past ten years, which are mainly reflected in the "five firsts": the center's research exchange and achievement application platform - "Xuetang Online" is the first MOOC platform in China, "Xuetang Online International Version" is the first international platform for online teaching in colleges and universities established under the guidance of the Ministry of Education, and "Xuetang Online" In 2020, it participated in the establishment of China's first international higher education organization, the World MOOC and Online Education Alliance, and in 2022, it participated in the compilation of the world's first "Infinite Possibilities - World Higher Education Digital Development Report" and "World Higher Education Digital Development Index". Facing the next ten years, he put forward four expectations for the development of the center: promoting a wider range of "MOOCs going overseas", accelerating the reform of artificial intelligence-enabled education and teaching, participating in the "101" plan for cultivating top-notch talents in basic disciplines, and promoting the paradigm change of teaching and learning. Jiang Peixue reviewed the achievements of Tsinghua University and the Online Education Research Center of the Ministry of Education in enhancing the supply of digital education resources, promoting the transformation and upgrading of education and teaching, and promoting the open sharing of educational resources in the past ten years by using platforms such as Xuetang Online and Rain Classroom. He said that at present, artificial intelligence is reshaping the form of higher education, and Tsinghua University is actively deploying AI-driven education concept updates and education model reforms, and exploring the construction of 100 AI-enabled education and teaching pilot courses. In 2013, Tsinghua University built and operated China's first MOOC platform, Xuetang Online, and after 10 years of hard work, the number of learners worldwide has reached 132 million, and a large number of MOOCs loved by learners have emerged on the platform. At the meeting, Lin Huiqing, Qu Zhenyuan, Zhang Daliang, Yuan Si, Song Yi and Peng Gang presented commemorative cups to MOOC teachers who selected more than one million courses and 500,000 students.

With the theme of smart teaching, this conference will be discussed in the context of the rapid development of generative artificial intelligence. Wang Xiaoxiao, Secretary-General of the Online Education Research Center of the Ministry of Education and Director of the Online Education Center of Tsinghua University, and Wang Shuaiguo, Head of Tsinghua University Academy, jointly gave a series of keynote reports on "The Exploration of AI-Enabled Education and Teaching". Li Manli, deputy director of the Online Education Research Center of the Ministry of Education and professor of the Institute of Education of Tsinghua University, gave a keynote report on "From MOOC to the New Realm of AI Education: Popularization and High-quality Intelligent Transition".
At the meeting, a signing ceremony was held for the joint construction of artificial intelligence empowerment education and teaching, and Xuetang Online signed contracts with 48 domestic universities and higher education administrative departments on the spot. In the future, Xuetang Online will work with partners to promote the new exploration of artificial intelligence-enabled education and teaching. Subsequently, Xuetang Online signed cooperation agreements with Thailand's National MOOC Platform and Indonesia's National Digital Education Platform. Xuetang Online will join hands with 148 universities in China to export 450 MOOCs to Indonesia and 100 MOOCs to Thailand.
In the keynote session, international scholars from Chulalongkorn University in Thailand, University of Science and Technology of the National University of Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, Hanoi National University in Vietnam, and education managers from Inner Mongolia University, Harbin Institute of Technology and many other universities in China shared their exploration and practical experience in using artificial intelligence technology to empower education and teaching in the era of digital intelligence.
Four roundtable forums were also held at the meeting, with the themes of "Strategy and Practice of Domestic and Foreign Cooperation and Sharing to Build High-quality Educational Resources", "Innovation and Practice of Artificial Intelligence Empowering Curriculum Construction", "Opportunities and Challenges of Generative Artificial Intelligence Empowering Education and Teaching", and "Artificial Intelligence Leading the Digital Innovation and Development of Higher Education".
