At the end of December 1935, Mongolian Prime Minister Genden was invited to a banquet in Moscow. After three glasses of wine, Genden began to go crazy. first cursed Stalin loudly, then pushed away the people around him, rushed to Stalin and slapped him hard!

Under the historical sky of Mongolia, there is such a prime minister, Genden, although he is not widely recognized by the public, but his political career is full of excitement and magnificence.

After independence, Mongolia did not have a good time, and it has always suffered from external interference, and the Soviet Union, the big brother of the communist forces, has always coveted the land of Mongolia and wants to include it in its own sphere of influence.

At the height of Stalin's time, desperate to make Mongolia his own appendage, Stalin set his sights on Mongolia, where he found a weapon that could be used by him: Genden.

Under his patronage, the politician quickly rose to prominence, and using iron-blooded political tactics, Genden quickly eliminated his political enemies at home and succeeded in becoming prime minister, thus ushering in his era.

Thanks to Soviet support, Genden pushed through a series of innovations, including reducing the tax burden, encouraging private development, and maintaining the existence of religious institutions, and under his leadership, Mongolia's economy gradually improved, and his reputation grew, gaining the approval of the majority of the population.

As time went by, he gradually strengthened his political ideas and long-cherished aspirations, and began to try to get rid of his dependence on Stalin and the Soviet Union, which was undoubtedly a fatal blow to Stalin, because he needed not only an obedient puppet, but also the absolute allegiance of Mongolia to the Soviet Union, which could not be changed in the slightest.

As time passed, Genden approached his dream, and he began to maneuver between the Soviet Union and Japan, expanding his influence, but all this was seen by Stalin as a blatant provocation and disloyalty to him.

In 1934, Stalin demanded that Genden eliminate 100,000 "enemies", but Genden flatly refused, and what made Stalin even more unacceptable was that Genden repeatedly attacked Stalin and the Soviet government in public, calling them "bloody imperialism".

At a dinner party in December 1935, Genden, who had been drinking three times, suddenly changed his temperament, cursed Stalin with impunity, rushed forward and gave Stalin a resounding slap in the face, followed by wild remarks that Mongolia was considering an alliance with Japan.

At this moment, the entire banquet hall seemed to freeze, and everyone was shocked, but Stalin did not get angry, but calmly picked up the pipe that had fallen to the ground, smiled and motioned for everyone to continue, and then got up and left.

But this turmoil did not end there, and when Genden woke up, he did not take his presumptuous behavior last night seriously, and still firmly believed that Stalin would not do anything to himself because of this.

But the truth was far from what he thought, and what Stalin really cared about was not the slap, but Genden's remark that "Mongolia is considering an alliance with Japan."

For Stalin, such statements meant that Mongolia could turn its back on the control of the Soviet Union, which would be a serious challenge to his absolute control, which was an absolutely unacceptable situation.

Stalin acted quickly, and together with Choibalsan, chairman of the Mongolian Joint Conference, convened a plenum of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party in Ulaanbaatar, at which many party members condemned Genden's misdeeds in Moscow and considered him to have seriously damaged friendly relations between Mongolia and the Soviet Union, and it was decided that Genden would be removed from his posts as prime minister and foreign minister and placed under house arrest.

In April 1936, Genden was escorted to the Soviet Union and imprisoned in a prison in Foros, where the Military Court of the Supreme Court of the USSR charged Genden with involvement in a coup d'état and Japanese espionage, both of which he was sentenced to death.

On November 26, 1937, Genden ended his life in a hidden corner of Moscow.

In a sense, that slap not only upended Genden's personal fate, but also had a profound impact on the course of the entire history of Mongolia.
