On April 25, at the Beijing Auto Show, Geely Galaxy Technology's flagship SUV "Galaxy Starship" was officially unveiled, and the new car is positioned as a full-size SUV and is scheduled to be mass-produced and launched next year.

The reason why it is called the Galactic Starship is because it has a lot of aura whether it is the way of opening the door or the intelligent cockpit.

"Only Geely can surpass Geely. Geely Group CEO Gan Jiayue shouted this sentence at the booth of Geely Galaxy at today's Beijing Auto Show.

At the same time, Geely also flexed its muscles and released a series of black technologies such as GEA's global intelligent new energy architecture, Galaxy 11-in-1 intelligent electric drive, and AI digital chassis.

Among them, GEA's global intelligent new energy architecture is the world's first intelligent architecture that integrates hardware, system, ecology and AI.

The Galaxy Starship is positioned as a large SUV with a body size of more than 5 meters. The original design of "Ripples of Light" is adopted, and the front face adopts a closed design, introducing a dot matrix luminous shape similar to the Galaxy E8 model, and adding a smart light curtain to make the front face resemble a dynamic island.

The side lines of the body are straight and steady, the door handles are designed to conceal the touch, and the front and rear doors are equipped with front and rear doors, and the wheels are triangular in shape with low drag design.

Build AI cars with AI architecture

In addition to being Geely's first full-size SUV model, the Galaxy Starship is also a prototype of a new technological flagship SUV based on GEA's architecture.

The GEA architecture is the world's first four-in-one AI intelligent architecture of "hardware, system, ecology and AI", and it is also the intelligent architecture with the world's largest new energy bandwidth, realizing full electrification and supporting all energy forms such as pure electric, hybrid, extended range, and green methanol.

Now it can be said that it is the era of AI-defined cars, Ganjiayue said that Geely Galaxy is to use AI architecture to build AI cars, "starting from the Galaxy Starship, every new energy vehicle will enter the Galaxy AI era."

The GEA3.0 electronic and electrical architecture enables new energy vehicles to fully access the "AI intelligent ecosystem", integrating technologies such as "multi-modal AIGC, AI digital chassis, and AI intelligent driving" to achieve comprehensive AI intelligence.

It is worth mentioning that the AI digital chassis is self-developed by Geely, which combines large models with digital chassis technology, and integrates steer-by-wire, wheel electric drive, intelligent driving and other technologies.

The response speed of Geely's AI digital chassis is 4 milliseconds, which can achieve "automatic vehicle control and risk avoidance" under extreme reaction. The AI digital chassis can even achieve driverless drifting, which means that even novices can experience drifting.

In terms of power, the Geely Galaxy Starship Concept Car is equipped with Geely's latest self-developed three-electric system, a new generation of Thor electric hybrid technology, which achieves the world's highest thermal efficiency of 46%, a full fuel and full battery range of more than 2000km, and the fuel consumption of the feed is as low as 2L.

In 2025, Geely will mass-produce the latest generation of Raytheon electric hybrid technology, which will be the first to be installed in this flagship SUV.

In addition to bringing new hard-core technology in terms of architecture and chassis, Geely also brought an 11-in-1 intelligent electric drive system, which is the lightest, smallest and most efficient intelligent electric drive in the industry. The highly integrated design not only makes the electric drive system smaller and lighter, but also effectively improves energy efficiency and power performance, allowing the car to go farther and faster.

Specifically, the efficiency is as high as 90.04% under CLTC conditions. While the efficiency is high, the weight is only 79.8kg, and the NVH performance is also good, only 78dB, making the driving experience more comfortable.

Ganjiayue also said at the press conference that Geely has mastered the silicon carbide hybrid drive integration technology, which can reduce the amount of silicon carbide by more than 75%, and the efficiency will be higher.

At the time of the unveiling of the Geely Galaxy brand last year, the official said that in the next two years, Geely Galaxy will launch 7 products, and the four products of the electric hybrid L series are L5, L6, L7, and L9.

It is reported that the prototype of the Galaxy Starship unveiled at the auto show may be L9, which is planned to be mass-produced and launched next year, but the official has not confirmed the accuracy of the L9 naming information for the time being.

But what is certain is that as Geely's first full-size SUV, the Galaxy Starship's market positioning is significantly higher than the existing product lineup, and it is highly likely to be higher than any previous Geely model.

When it comes to full-size SUVs, in addition to traditional luxury brands, such as BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS, we also have to mention the ideal L9 of the new forces, Wenjie M9, etc., coincidentally, these two models are also named 9.

Although the auto show is only a prototype, not the final production version, and there is no official release of more specific model data, enthusiastic netizens have already selected a direct competitor for it.

At present, the starting price of the 2024 Ideal L9 is 409,900, the body size is 5218×1998×1800mm, the wheelbase is 3105mm, and the family is positioned as a six-seat flagship SUV.

The M9 extended range version is sold from 469,800 yuan, with a body size of 5230 × 1999 × 1800mm and a wheelbase of 3110mm.

From the perspective of power form and positioning, there is a high probability that the Geely Galaxy Starship will directly compete with the ideal L9 and the Wenjie M9.

Now Geely Galaxy's highest-priced model is the 228,800 pure electric sedan Galaxy E8, and a full-size SUV is bound to become the benchmark and representative of the entire brand.
