On April 25, the reporter learned that WeChat Pay HK has recently added access to the public transportation network of 13 mainland cities, covering Shenzhen and Zhaoqing in the Greater Bay Area, Shanghai, Xiamen, Hangzhou, Hefei and Qingdao in East China, Chengdu, Chongqing and Kunming in Southwest China, Wuhan and Zhengzhou in Central China, and Xi'an in Northwest China. Previously, WeChat Pay HK has been connected to the public transport networks of Guangzhou and Foshan, and currently covers a total of 15 popular mainland cities where "Hong Kong people go north", and most of the public transport systems in Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, the New Territories and outlying islands in Hong Kong.
When the user activates the bus or subway code of the corresponding city, he or she can authorize the automatic deduction of the Hong Kong dollar balance of the WeChat Hong Kong wallet, the bound Hong Kong credit card or bank account. After activation, users can scan the QR code in the corresponding city to take the bus without queuing up to buy tickets, and the fare will be automatically converted into Hong Kong dollars for payment at the preferential exchange rate. The WeChat Hong Kong Wallet will also be connected to more public transport networks in mainland cities in succession, continuously enhancing the convenience of Hong Kong people travelling to the mainland for business and visiting relatives and friends.
Previously, WeChat Hong Kong Wallet has fully opened up its mainland merchant network and increased transaction limits, allowing users to conveniently pay in Hong Kong dollars at tens of millions of merchants in mainland cities, and the number of transactions and transaction amounts have maintained a high level of growth. According to the data, in addition to the cities in the Greater Bay Area, mainland cities such as Shanghai, Xiamen and Wuhan also rank among the top in terms of transaction value and number of transactions. The further connection to the city's bus and subway networks will effectively enhance the experience of Hong Kong people travelling northward, and users can also conveniently choose to travel by high-speed rail, buses, ferries and other cross-border transportation through the "Cross-border Travel" section of WeChat Hong Kong Wallet.
