He got married in Shanghai in 1979

Liu Yanwu, my military husband, retired from the Automobile Company of the 15th Regiment of the Third Detachment of the Infrastructure Engineering Corps. Due to his illness, he left me on January 30, 2020 (the sixth day of the first lunar month) after long-term medical treatment. Although we have only been together for more than 40 years, he is someone I will never forget.

In a trance, Yanwu has been away from me for four years, but the twilight of more than forty years seems to be like yesterday, and every time I think about it, it is always difficult to let go.

On the 2022 National Day holiday, I deliberately returned from Shanghai to my second hometown in Hanzhong, Shaanxi Province, after a more than ten years of absence, which is a small home that my husband and I once built together.

The purpose of my return home is to find the bits and pieces of our life back then, and to find the warmth and happiness we once had.

At home, I carefully sorted out every item left by Yanwu, and what made me feel most precious were the photos and honorary certificates he left behind.

For a few days, I spent most of my time poring over the photos and certificates. Seeing things and thinking about people, one by one, in the photo certificate, it helps me recall the beautiful days when I used to get along with Yan Wu day and night, although it was hard, but it was like a dream.

Hongyan passed on the book and tied the knot

I am a Shanghai girl, grew up in Shanghai, graduated from junior high school in 1972 to work, in 1974 in response to the country's call to build the northwest, was assigned to work in Hanzhong Hanjiang Tool Factory in Shaanxi Province. At that time, I said goodbye to my family and Shanghai, and came to Hanzhong alone to start a new life.

Yanwu and I met in June 1976 when Yanwu joined the army for the first time and went home to visit relatives. When Yanwu returned to the army after a family holiday, our exchange was a correspondence until we got married in May 1979.

1976 First Love Affair

At that time, Yanwu was still in the army, so I made an appointment with him, I went to the army station first, and then we went to Shanghai to hold a wedding ceremony together. Because my parents and siblings are in Shanghai, we have to consider the emotions of both families when we get married. The most important thing is that we have a limited number of days of marriage and family leave, and we don't want to exceed the leave, and we want to make the marriage as successful as possible. Therefore, at that time, I was thinking that since I, a Shanghai girl, was married to a soldier, I had to let go of some customs and concepts and follow Yanwu's steps.

At the end of April, I simply packed up my own luggage, and went directly to the Benxi troops, where I stayed in the barracks for one night and two and a half days during the day.

After I arrived in the army, the company leaders came to visit me, and Yanwu's comrades-in-arms were as warm as brothers, they were very polite, and in order to see me, a Shanghai girl, they took a friendly turn to bring me food. I see all this in my eyes and remember it in my heart. I feel that the army is different from the locality, the soldiers are all disciplined, and I also feel that the army is always disciplined.

After leaving the company, I followed Yanwu back to their hometown in Harbin to meet relatives and friends, and then to Shanghai to meet my parents, brothers and sisters. On May 1st, Labor Day, we simply held a banquet, had a lively meeting with relatives and friends, and then returned to the factory in Hanzhong together to give a wedding candy to the workers, which was considered a trip to get married.

After marrying Yanwu, we husband and wife supported each other, and the text episodes are still vivid, unforgettable, and he left me with eternal memories and unforgettable thoughts!

A dull life is the most true

Yanwu's life was uneventful. Born in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, he caught up with the "Cultural Revolution" when he was in junior high school, became a Red Guard, and went to Beijing to be received by Chairman Mao. As the "third old", Yanwu went to the countryside as soon as he graduated from junior high school, and he went to the Heilongjiang Production and Construction Corps for four years.

At the beginning of 1972, Yanwu's father responded to the call of the country to support the construction of the third line in the northwest, and the family moved to Hanjiang Tool Factory in Hanzhong, Shaanxi Province (referred to as Box No. 75) with the Harbin Tool Factory.

This winter coincided with the conscription, Yanwu persuaded his parents to join the army, and at the age of 22, he caught the last train of the age to join the army. After enlisting in the army, Yanwu recruits performed well in training and were selected to learn to drive in the automobile company. In the automobile company, he worked hard, was motivated, helpful, entered the cooking class, served as the automobile squad leader, received a good training and training, won seven awards, and joined the party honorably in January 1977.

In January 1980, Yanwu's discharge certificate

At that time, Yanwu was in the army, I was in the factory, and in our correspondence, we always encouraged each other and made positive progress, and in May 1977, I also joined the party with honor.

In January 1980, Yanwu was discharged from the army, but still returned to the Hangang Tool Factory and was assigned to work in the factory transportation company. Due to the excellent driving skills taught to Yanwu by the army, in the first few years, he drove a large liberation car to deliver materials for the factory, sometimes for several days in a row, and when he came back, he did not have a good rest, and insisted on continuing to work.

Because Yanwu has a strong sense of responsibility and good driving skills, the leader arranged for him to drive an ambulance, no matter what time it is, as long as there is a patient, Yanwu is on call and never delays.

Later, a new bus was brought into the factory, and the leaders arranged for Yanwu to go to Harbin to pick up the car, and handed over the most decent car in the factory to Yanwu, mainly responsible for transporting the factory workers to and from work and their families to and from the city.

I know that all this is due to the solid work style, the spirit of enduring hardships and standing hard work, and the solid technical foundation laid down by his training and training in the army. I also feel very honored to have found such a good partner.

Yanwu is diligent, responsible, and helpful, and has won unanimous praise from factory leaders and workers. Therefore, he was recommended by the unit to become the chairman of the union of the transportation company, which he held until his retirement.

During this period, due to the needs of the unit, he was also in charge of the financial management of the unit.

In the more than 30 years of working in the factory, Yanwu has been affirmed by employees, organizations and leaders in terms of technical skills, especially in character, and has also won many honors such as "outstanding party member".

Yanwu's life is very dull, and it is not easy. But he is a very strong person in his bones, and he has been working hard in all aspects of study, work, and life. Although I was the biggest support behind him, I still felt that I was not doing well for him in many ways due to his poor health and illness.

Hand in hand to fight the pain

In accordance with Shanghai's policy, our only daughter returned to Shanghai in 1999 to study, work and start a family. After Yanwu retired in 2011, he and I returned to live in Shanghai.

Just as we settled down in Shanghai and shared a happy retirement life, Yanwu's body was in condition, due to high blood pressure and blood sugar, complicated by sequelae, he was hospitalized several times. Yanwu, who is already optimistic, has always actively cooperated with the treatment and fought the disease tenaciously.

As a wife, I tried every possible way to seek medical treatment on the one hand, and on the other hand, I strengthened my care for his life. Despite this, every time Yanwu became ill, his physical condition took a step back, until he had to be confined to a wheelchair. At this point, I am always with me, and I dare not be careless.

Knowing the husband and wife, I know what Yanwu needs most. In addition to taking care of life, I often take him for a walk, accompany him to do rehabilitation and restore physical fitness, and when the weather is good, I push his wheelchair to take him to the Bund, visit Songjiang New Town, experience the development and changes of Shanghai with him, and regulate and relax his mood.

It is the most precious comradeship

After he was discharged from the army, he kept in touch with his comrades-in-arms or kept in touch by phone, and often met with his comrades-in-arms when he was in Hanzhong.

During the Spring Festival of 2002, he took a group photo with Mrs. Bai Shenglin and her daughter (right) at home in Hanzhong.

After we retired and moved to Shanghai, with the upgrading of communication methods, the previous contact information of some comrades-in-arms was interrupted, but Yanwu still eagerly continued to inquire about the news, until October 2018, it was also his comrade-in-arms of the automobile company who joined the army and was in Shanghai with Bai Shenglin, who finally established contact with us after many searches. At this time, Yanwu, who had just relapsed into the emergency room with an old illness, didn't know how happy he was!

Bai Shenglin immediately rushed to the hospital to visit Yanwu and gave him great comfort!

Since then, every time a comrade-in-arms comes to visit, it is when he is in the best mood, and he seems to be extra energetic and powerful.

In the early winter of 2018, Gao Naikun and his wife (left) visited Yanwu.

After Yanwu and his comrades-in-arms of the automobile company got in touch with each other and added WeChat, what he was most concerned about was the WeChat group of his comrades-in-arms. Especially at the beginning of 2019, Bai Shenglin's comrades-in-arms sent the car company "Eighteen Years of Military Career", he immediately looked at the photos inside, saw things and thought about people, and was even more excited!

After persisting for more than a year, Yanwu finally left us due to illness, left his relatives, and left his comrades-in-arms who came from afar to visit him......

Although Yanwu is gone, as his wife, I can't forget the comrades-in-arms who once lived side by side with Yanwu, and I can't forget the brothers who cared for him!

Thank you, Yanwu's comrades-in-arms!

It was your care and love for him and his family during his lifetime, especially when he was dying, that enabled us to get through this difficult time!
