The War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea was an important event in rewriting contemporary world history, and the Battle of Chosin Lake was a landmark event in this war, but the opening of the movie "Chosin Lake" was a beautiful scenery in Huzhou, Zhejiang:
The protagonist Wu Qianli returned to his hometown by boat, met his parents and brother who had been separated for a long time, and the family sat around together, imagining building a new house in the spring of the next year, and no longer needing to float on the water.
The stark contrast between big and small, heavy and light is precisely the clever narrative language of the film: brave and fearless volunteer soldiers, great heroes, but also amiable, respectable and lovely ordinary people.
As a war blockbuster, "Chosin Lake" does not lack magnificent battle screens, tense and exciting action scenes, and does not lack well-made, cool and dazzling special effects scenes, but the most impressive thing about the movie is the vivid faces of Wu Qianli, Wu Wanli and the Qilian brothers.
Younger brother Wu Wanli insisted on fighting with his brother because he was difficult to abandon his brother; Mei Sheng was busy groping on the ground after the fierce battle to find photos of his daughter because he missed his family; Lei Gong and Wu Qianli laughed and discussed that after the battle, they would live together and say a daughter-in-law...
These passages are moving and the emotional landing point of the film. Although the significance of this war to China and the Chinese people is great, there is not much esoteric truth and passionate slogans in the film, only the most simple expression.
Before Wu Qianli went out on the expedition, he told his brother that if we fought all the battles that should be fought, our descendants would not have to fight any more; the sharpshooter Pinghe wiped his gun and sighed while he hoped that future generations would never have to live in the smoke of gunfire again; when the general asked Wu Wanli why he wanted to join the army, he said with a loud voice that New China had given land and homeland, and the Americans would never be allowed to take it away.
Why did the volunteer soldiers achieve the final victory when the conditions were far from being comparable to those of the US army?
The film does not deify volunteer soldiers, portraying them as invincible "supermen", nor deliberately belittling opponents and portraying them as arrogant "clowns". This is a respect for history, and it also points out from a deeper perspective the fundamental reason for the success or failure of the war: the justice of defending the country makes the volunteer soldiers fearless, while the well-equipped American soldiers cannot find a reason to fight.
No wonder the American generals were also shocked by the volunteer soldiers frozen at Chosin Lake, took off their hats and saluted and said from the bottom of their hearts: With such a strong will, the Americans cannot win this battle.
It is advisable to put "Chosin Lake" into the collective spiritual genealogy of major domestic theme films to observe: using small incisions to show the big era, using a plain tone to tell the heavy theme, and using the image of flesh and blood characters to feel, has become the common choice of many main theme films.
Wu Wanli in "Chosin Lake" is stubborn, disobedient, and shows timidity and fear in the fierce battle, but he finally overcomes fear, withstands the baptism of war, and grows into a strong warrior.
Today is the eighth Martyrs' Day. In September, we just welcomed the return of the remains of the eighth batch of martyrs of the Korean Chinese Volunteer Army.
"Chosin Lake" makes the audience have a deeper feeling about this: these martyrs who return home may be a stubborn and stubborn young man who never accepts defeat, a veteran who hopes to reunite with his family as soon as possible, and a good brother who cherishes love and righteousness and always thinks of others... They are not far away from us, just like the lovely young people around us today, as if they were our friends and brothers.
They are very "ordinary", but at the critical moment when the country and the nation face challenges, they can not hesitate to stand up and protect our hard-won happy life with their flesh and blood. The greatest heroes are also the cutest "people", which is why the vast audience has red eyes in the theater.
From the heroic characters of "Tall and Complete" to the portrayal and shaping of complex human nature, this is not only the transformation of the film narrative language, but also the continuous renewal of the aesthetic style of domestic films. The art of sensible film can be truly moving, and grand narratives and great times should be projected into concrete characters and lives.
There is a detail in the movie that in the battlefield where you are dead, Wu Qianli stopped his brother in time to kill the COMMANDER of the US army who had no ability to resist. He made it clear: Some guns can be fired, but others can be shot without. Chinese is peace-loving, and China did not, it will not, and it will not take the initiative to provoke a war in the future. This truth does not need too much explanation, and it is hidden in the lens language of the movie.
"Chosin Lake" is working with more and more excellent domestic main theme movies to tell the "Chinese story" and "Chinese spirit" more and more wonderfully and vividly.
