On April 18, 2024, at the invitation of the Pingding County Customs Working Committee, the Youth Mental Health Promotion Center of the Yangquan Municipal Customs Working Committee held a special lecture on the theme of "Resolutely Say 'No' to Campus Violence" at Nanao Middle School in Pingding County, thus opening the prelude to the 2024 Yangquan Municipal Customs Working Committee's mental health promotion "school-family-community collaborative education" action. Bai Baozhong, Director of the Pingding County Customs Work Committee, Tian Zhi, Deputy Director of the Pingding County Customs Work Committee, Liang Yiwen, Deputy Director and Director of the Office of the Pingding County Customs Work Committee, Hao Jun, Secretary-General of the Pingding County Education System Customs Work Committee, Zhao Baofu, Director of the Youth Mental Health Promotion Center of the Pingding County Customs Work Committee, and Zhao Fuchang, Deputy Director and Secretary of the Municipal Customs Work Committee, attended the event. More than 130 people attended the event, including Zhao Runqin, principal of Nanao Middle School in Pingding County, Zhao Jianglong, Wang Xuling, vice principals, all students of the seventh grade and some homeroom teachers. Zhao Runqin, principal of Nanao Middle School, presided over the event and delivered a welcome speech. Cui Xiaoqin, a volunteer from the second group of the Youth Mental Health Promotion Center of the Municipal Customs Working Committee, gave a lecture, and Shi Huahong, Wang Li, and Li Li served as teaching assistants.
Cui Xiaoqin gave a special lecture entitled "Promoting Adolescent Mental Health and Jointly Safeguarding a Better Future", focusing on the theme of "resolutely saying 'no' to school violence", through the introduction of situations, the definition of school violence (school bullying), the types of school violence (such as behavioral violence, verbal violence, psychological violence, cyber violence, etc.), school violence cases, measures to be taken when encountering school violence, student role-playing activities that refuse school violence, how to avoid school violence discussions, and methods to prevent school violence section and interact with students. In particular, the student role-play activities allow students to have an immersive experience and feel how to protect themselves and their peers if they encounter school violence. Finally, the event culminated in a joint pledge: "We should not be cruel perpetrators, we should not be cold observers, and we should not be silent victims!"
Bai Baozhong's speech emphasized that the work of mental health education for adolescents is very important, and that mental health education should start from children, and that the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China has clear provisions on the criminalization of juvenile crimes. He admonished young people not to cause trouble in their daily study and life, but not to be afraid of trouble, to correctly handle campus contradictions, to keep the bottom line, to establish lofty ideals, and to be healthy teenagers who grow up physically and mentally.
Hao Jun conveyed the spirit of Shanxi Province's instructions on strengthening students' mental health education in the new era, affirmed the achievements of Nanao Middle School in mental health education over the years, and put forward new requirements for future education and teaching, especially mental health education.
Zhao Baofu thanked the leaders of the Pingding County Customs Working Committee, the Pingding County Education System Customs Working Committee and Nanao Middle School for their great attention and careful organization. He hoped that through today's activities, the school will make greater contributions to cultivating people with virtue, educate people for the party and the country, and hope that young students will become socialist builders and successors with sound personality, physical and mental health, and all-round development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor.
After the lecture, the leaders, experts and relevant personnel of the school had a discussion. The majority of experts believe that it is very important to actively carry out research on the mental health status of students, pay attention to the causes of students' depression, anxiety, and school boredom, and take different measures for different groups, so as to show more care, support, and encouragement to them, discover students' shining points, and stimulate their self-confidence. On the basis of ensuring that the psychology class is held every other week, the school organizes and carries out psychological club activities. It is necessary to arouse the enthusiasm of all aspects of school, family, and society, and do a good job in the work of "school, family, and community coordinated education". Zhao Runqin, principal of Nanao Middle School, said that he sincerely thanked all the leaders and experts for their strong support for the work of Nanao Middle School, especially the mental health education work, and hoped that he could continue to get the support and help of leaders and experts in the future, and do a good job in the school's family-society collaborative education work, so that the school's work can reach a new level.
