As a major planned development project in Jiangsu Province and a key project of Nanjing Famous Enterprises Settlement Plan, Xiaomi Group's East China Headquarters will be opened in early May, when 5,000 people are expected to settle in the office, and it will become the largest R&D center in China except for Xiaomi's Beijing headquarters.
Walking into the project site of Xiaomi Group's East China headquarters, three geometric high-rise buildings come into view, and workers are working on internal road optimization and park landscape improvement. The building is enclosed to form a quadrilateral, and a transparent circular building in the atrium looks like a "Hui" character when viewed from the air.
Talking about the implementation of the East China headquarters project of Xiaomi Group seven years ago, Liang Qiushi, deputy general manager of Xiaomi's Internet Business Department and general manager of Xiaomi's Nanjing regional headquarters, recalled that in August 2017, the Xiaomi team was invited to Jianye for the first time to learn more about the Nanjing market and explore the possibility of cooperation with Jianye. "During the visit, we saw Jianye's good infrastructure and development environment and other basic resources, as well as Jianye's long-term investment value, development prospects and government support, and also realized Jianye's responsibility as the core area of Nanjing. Liang Qiushi said that subsequently, the two sides reached a formal cooperation in only about 70 days.
Liang Qiushi introduced that Xiaomi's East China Headquarters, as a key software R&D base set up by the group in East China, aims to become a software R&D center in East China, and will gather advantageous businesses such as mobile phone software and Internet in the future and science and technology ecological chain projects, play a leading and exemplary role in talents, innovation, industry, etc., and help Nanjing build itself into an innovative economic highland and a smart city.
In terms of talent training, Xiaomi Group's Nanjing region is committed to building a long-term and stable engineer talent training base by gathering system application software, software testing talents and Internet capacity building with the mobile phone department as the core, relying on Nanjing's local advantages.
It is understood that Xiaomi's East China headquarters is expected to recruit 800 people this year, establish East China Software College, and join hands with universities in Jiangsu Province such as China Southern Airlines and Southern Institute of Technology to jointly train employees in demand and pull through industry-university-research cooperation. It is expected to reach 5,000 people within three years and strive to exceed 10,000 people in five years.
Since Xiaomi's East China headquarters settled in Nanjing in October 2017, it has set up 6 companies and a number of ecological chain enterprises in Nanjing, including Xiaomi Youpin Technology and Beijing Xiaomi Mobile Software Co., Ltd. Nanjing Branch, and in 2023, some Internet business lines will land in Nanjing, covering games, applications, content and other fields, with more than 2,000 employees, 75% of whom are R&D personnel, and an average age of 27 years old. Last year, Xiaomi Nanjing's various economic indicators achieved substantial growth, including a turnover of more than 1.2 billion yuan and an annual R&D investment of 540 million yuan.
