Before Russia falls, the Biden administration can't wait to take a free hand against China, and there is quite a posture of trying to smash China to the death, and the United States is attacking from three routes, what are these three routes? How did China respond?
At present, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues, as the "backing" of Ukraine, the United States originally planned to use Ukraine's hand to consume and drag down Russia, but now the result has disappointed the United States, and there is almost no suspense about the defeat of the Ukrainian army on the battlefield, in order to give the Ukrainian army a chance to breathe, recently, the US House of Representatives passed a bill of more than 60 billion US dollars to aid Ukraine, but this can only be regarded as a drop in the bucket for the Ukrainian army. While the United States continues to assist Ukraine, the Biden administration is also vigorously dealing with the mainland, obviously, the United States can no longer wait for Russia to fall, and for the American side, dealing with China now is the top priority. As a result, the Biden administration took the mainland first, and still attacked in three ways, in the words of Hu Xijin, a veteran media person and former editor-in-chief of the Global Times, the next bigger goal of the Biden administration is to "smash China to the death". The above three paths are: sanctions on Chinese companies, raising tariffs on China, and Taiwan-related provocations.
First of all, in terms of sanctioning Chinese enterprises, it is reported that with the U.S. Department of Commerce including 6 Chinese companies in the export control entity list in mid-April local time, the number of Chinese entities sanctioned by the Biden administration has accumulated to 319, which not only surpasses the Trump administration, but also the most in the previous U.S. administrations. In other words, the Biden administration has imposed more aggressive sanctions on Chinese companies than it did under Trump. The reason for the Biden administration's recent sanctions on six Chinese companies is still the so-called "national security" and the so-called "China's aid to Russia". The U.S. side believes that the sanctioned Chinese companies violated the relevant provisions of the U.S. sanctions against Iran, as well as helping to produce and procure drones for use by Russia in the special military operation and in the Red Sea shipping attacks by Iranian-backed Houthi rebels. To put it bluntly, the purpose of the US side is to use public opinion to prevent close exchanges between China and Russia and to prevent normal trade between China and Russia. In response, He Yadong, spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce, pointed out that the US has broadened the concept of national security, abused export control measures, and wantonly imposed unilateral sanctions and "long-arm jurisdiction" on Chinese companies. This is a typical act of economic coercion and unilateralism, and China will take all necessary measures to safeguard the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of Chinese companies.
Secondly, on the matter of raising tariffs on China, recently, when Biden visited the headquarters of the American Steelworkers Union, he once again blamed China for the weakness of the steel industry, claiming that he would significantly increase U.S. tariffs on Chinese metal products, and called on U.S. Trade Representative Tai Qi to consider raising tariffs on Chinese steel and aluminum products three times before the end of the current "Section 301" investigation. Although China's current share of U.S. steel and aluminum imports is actually very small, the Biden administration's move may mark the beginning of a new round of trade exchanges between China and the United States, and the significance at this level is even more significant. In addition, regarding the so-called "Section 301" investigation, US Trade Representative Katherine Tai said a few days ago that she expects the review of tariffs on more than $300 billion worth of Chinese goods to be concluded "soon". At that time, it cannot be ruled out that the US will have another round of sanctions against Chinese companies. However, in fact, there is no factual basis for the above-mentioned accusations against China by the US side, and its relevant measures are completely typical unilateralist and protectionist practices, which are deliberately ignoring the international economic and trade order and rules and politicizing economic and trade issues.
Earlier, shortly after the Chinese and US defense ministers had a video call, a US P-8A anti-submarine patrol plane sailed through the Taiwan Strait and publicly hyped it up. Obviously, the US side intends to send a seriously wrong signal to the DPP authorities and the "Taiwan independence" forces on the island, so that the DPP authorities should not be overly sensitive to the phone call between the Chinese and US defense ministers, with the intention of "appeasing" the "Taiwan independence" forces on the island. In addition, there are many provocative moves by the US side related to Taiwan, such as arms sales to Taiwan, US politicians visiting Taiwan, and "Taiwan independence" elements visiting the United States. In this regard, Senior Colonel Wu Qian, spokesman for the mainland's Ministry of National Defense, explicitly stressed that Taiwan is China's Taiwan, and resolving the Taiwan issue is the Chinese's own affair, which brooks no foreign interference.
