Vector Control | Cockroach control

author:Qujiang New District

As the weather warms up, vector organisms such as mosquitoes, flies, and cockroaches are also becoming active. They can transmit a wide range of diseases and pose a serious threat to human health. How to reduce the infestation of vector organisms? Today, let's take a look at the vector biological control series -- cockroach control.

Vector biological control - cockroach control

蜚蠊(fěi lián)

Cockroaches, commonly known as cockroaches, are one of the oldest insects on Earth and once lived in the same era as dinosaurs.

Spread germs

Cockroaches have been shown to carry about 40-50 species of bacteria that are pathogenic to vertebrates, such as dysentery bacillus, Escherichia coli, Yersinia pestis, etc., which can cause food poisoning and spread hepatitis, polio, pneumonia, tuberculosis and other pathogenic bacteria.

It is also an intermediate host for a variety of parasites, and can carry a variety of worm eggs such as roundworms, duodenal hookworms, beef tapeworms, burn worms, whipworms, etc., and also carries a variety of protozoa, four of which are pathogenic to humans or animals. It can also carry fungi, and in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, and in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China has also isolated a variety of fungi from cockroaches caught indoors, including a large number of Aspergillus flavonica. In addition, the excrement of cockroaches and the proteins in their carcasses can induce allergic rhinitis and asthma in humans.

Cockroach hazards

(1) Transmission of multiple pathogens;

(2) Induce allergic symptoms such as allergic rhinitis and asthma

(3) polluting the environment and food;

(4) Hazard electrical equipment.

Preventive measures

Only by taking comprehensive control measures can the harm of cockroaches be reduced to a level that is not harmful, and a single method and an insecticide cannot achieve the desired killing effect.

1. Environmental governance

Environmental management is the basic measure to exterminate cockroaches. First of all, "eight checks" cockroach habitats, that is, a check table, two check cabinets, three check chairs, four check (sewer mouth), five check pools (washing pools), six check cases (food processing boards), seven check seams, eight check piles (debris piles), and then clean up kitchen waste, sundries and sanitary dead ends in a timely manner, completely remove cockroach habitat conditions, regularly inspect and clean up electrical appliances such as refrigerators, electric ovens and other electrical appliances in and around.

Secondly, improve the protective measures for cockroach invasion, that is, "seal six seams": the holes and gaps in the walls, floors, door frames, window sills (frames), pools and sewers should be blocked and sealed with cement, silicone and other materials;

Finally, inspect items entering and leaving the room (e.g., couriers, parcels, moving items) to prevent the introduction of cockroaches and their egg sheaths.

2. Physical prevention and control

Sticky cockroach paper is a physical cockroach extermination method, which has the characteristics of no pollution and long action. A small amount of food attractant (bread crumbs, coffee grounds, etc.) can be placed on the sticky roach paper. Sticky cockroach paper should be placed in a dry environment, pay attention to moisture, avoid water flushing. Sticky cockroach paper can continue to be used as long as the stickiness is present.

If you stick to a small number of cockroaches, do not throw away the sticky cockroach paper, cockroaches have a habit of gathering, you can continue to use, the effect is better. The cockroaches to be glued cover more than 1/3 of the sticky cockroach paper, and the sticky cockroach paper can be folded in half, packed into a plastic bag and sealed, put into other garbage, or burned with fire to ensure safety.

3. Drug cockroach extermination

Glue bait is a stomach poison and is a chemical cockroach extermination method. When applying, it is necessary to follow the principle of "more points, less amount, and wide coverage". Apply the bait in a dotted form to the places where cockroaches often haunt and hide, such as gaps, corners, holes, cabinet corners, and the inside of electrical equipment, so as to get as close as possible to the cockroach's habitat. The amount of pesticide application is appropriately adjusted according to the severity of the cockroach.

Where there are many cockroaches (kitchen, dining room), every 10 cm, each point is about the size of a mung bean grain, and applied to dark and hard-to-reach places such as crevices, drawers, and wall corners. Where there are few cockroaches (living room, bedroom), every 15-20 cm dot a dot, each gram of glue bait can be dotted 3-5 points, if the application is reasonable, the obvious effect can be seen after 7 days, but the drug must be kept for at least 14 days.

Families take the kitchen as an example (15 square meters of kitchen, if the harm is serious, you can order 30 grams of glue bait), focusing on the following parts of the application of cockroach bait:

★ cabinet edges or inside drawers;

★ gaps in the back or bottom of refrigerators, microwaves, ovens;

★ moldings or wall panel gaps;

★ gas stoves, range hood edges and corners;

★ In and around water pipes and other types of pipes;

★ air conditioners or door and window frames;

★ wall clock or mirror, etc.

★ Around the sink and in the cupboard below.

4. Safety precautions

In order to ensure the effect of cockroach extermination, the drug should be kept for at least 1~2 months during the cockroach extermination period. At the same time, it is necessary to collect food and remove garbage in time. If there are children or pets (such as cats and dogs) at home, attention should be paid to placing the poison bait in a place that is not easy to be touched by children and pets to avoid accidental ingestion.
