Leek cultivation is a traditional industry in Niujia Village. In order to further strengthen the village collective economy, in 2021, the party branch of Niujia Village led the establishment of a village-level vegetable planting professional cooperative to develop the leek greenhouse planting industry. Mu Yuwen, secretary of the party branch of Niujia Village, introduced that the cooperatives currently plant more than 120 acres of leeks and build 48 greenhouses. "This is a recycling project that we want to vigorously develop this year, in June last year, the village purchased a crusher, using waste fungus sticks and leek roots plus pig manure and biological bacteria to make organic fertilizer, part of which is used in their own sheds, and the excess can also be sold. In the past, in order to meet the needs of 120 acres of leek sheds, it costs about 120,000 yuan to purchase organic fertilizer every year, and now through this innovative approach, the cost of fertilizer has been greatly reduced, only 30,000 yuan a year, and the implementation of this technology has provided new ideas for the development of local sustainable agriculture. The organic fertilizer produced by the cooperative not only meets the consumption of its own base, but also provides fertilizer for large grain growers in nearby villages. "The proximity to this place saves a lot of transportation costs, and the most important thing is that the quality of the organic fertilizer here is very good, and the effect of improving the soil is very good. Mu Yuwen said that through scientific planting and management, the annual sales of leeks in Niujia Village Agricultural Planting Cooperative alone reached more than 1 million yuan, and the total annual income of mushrooms reached 1.2 million yuan, coupled with the recycling organic fertilizer project, it is expected that the cooperative will increase its income by 700,000 yuan to 800,000 yuan this year, which will effectively drive the village collective and villagers to continue to increase their income.
