Life is a sea of seas, mountains and rivers. From the age of 9 to 66, a group of ordinary actors took to the stage and completed an experimental dance performance in the spotlight. Among them are female doctors, Internet company employees, freelancers who have just come to Shanghai, primary school students, dance students, former professional dancers, etc. At this moment, they use dance to face their inner world and interpret the true meaning of dance. As dancer Hu Hongjun put it, it was a "firework of imperfect life" where they bloomed brilliantly tonight.

On May 21st, the "Yo-Yo Vision" of the Su ren dance theater ushered in the official premiere of the Experimental Theater of Shanghai International Dance Center. Produced by Shanghai International Dance Center Theatre ("National Dance Theatre"), "Yo-Yo Vision" tells the true story of thirteen ordinary actors from all walks of life. "Yo-Yo Horizon" held a visiting class at the beginning of the year and received unanimous praise. After nearly four months of repeated polishing, the work was finally presented to the audience in a complete form of 110 minutes. The audience understands these ordinary actors through dance, and sees through their shadows the moving shining points of ordinary people under the big times.

Mengying Jiang is a PhD majoring in neurobiology and has no dance foundation. Wandering alone in Shanghai, she met two friends for this performance, and in addition to the novel stage experience, she devoted herself to the stage performance, which also made her feel a kind of healing. "It is a place where we can put our inner world, where I can temporarily put aside real life and store my heart, my spiritual world, in one place, and I feel that it is a kind of memorial, commemorating my complicated and complicated life experiences since I was 28 years old."

There are four professional dancers in the work, Wang Shuhuan and Wang Jiani, who are still in school, Wang Sijia, a former professional dancer, and Hu Hongjun, an EVO who is both choreographer and actor, in the work, they tell their own stories.

"For me personally, the nature of dancing is practice, practice from the inside out." EVO Hu Hongjun is a veteran street dancer and one of the founders of caster dance studios. Before this work, he had also considered how to try to do some de-technical creation, and when he really stood on the stage and performed with a group of ordinary actors, he had many new feelings. "It's like we're dancing hip-hop, sometimes we're a pristine, pristine occasion. But on this stage, you will ask yourself inward, dig yourself out, and if you have inspiration, you may be able to inspire others a little. ”

One by one, the actors took to the stage and used their bodies to tell their true stories. However, two of the actors have been unable to take the stage again. During the creation of "Yo-Yo Horizons", two actors died due to accidents and illnesses, and special commemorative clips were arranged in the work: in the commemorative clip of programmer Pan Wenjia, the director invited the tap dance troupe she participated in before her death to appear in the form of silhouettes, "dancing for her once"; and in the clip of the former kindergarten teacher Cuckoo, the actor who had partnered with her slowly danced with the thin woman in the video, reproducing the last and most brilliant highlight moments of her life and completing their unfulfilled dreams.

The creation of "Yo-Yo Horizons" was inspired by a story of an audience member during the epidemic last year. At that time, the theater was forced to shut down, and the National Dance Theater launched a series of online dance courses, and 11-year-old Wu You (Yo-Yo) entered the theater's vision. The production team of the National Dance Theater learned that Yo-Yo is from Wuhan, his mother is a medical worker, and he has been dancing with him during the epidemic. Inspired by Yo-Yo, the National Dance Theater decided to find a group of people of all kinds to co-create a work, which is the origin of "Yo-Yo Vision". On the day of the official performance, Yo-Yo also came to the scene and improvised a dance in the post-performance talk session.

Producer Chen Li introduced that "Yo-Yo Horizon" is the first work produced and produced by the National Dance Theater, the project released the first round of recruitment in July 2020, after the video audition carried out two rounds of on-site selection, on October 1, the official trial rehearsal, the establishment of the group, since then began a long road of 8 months of editing. The actors come to rehearsals every week from all corners of Harbin, Hangzhou and Shanghai, and in addition to the difficulties caused by time, distance and personnel changes, the fluctuating epidemic is also testing the project again and again. In the face of many difficulties, the National Dance Theater still sent this su ren dance theater to the audience, which was a bold attempt and adventure.

"Every paragraph, every fragment, every moment touched me, that's why I left it behind." Director Song Xinxin said that to appreciate this type of work, it is necessary to temporarily put aside the usual standards of beauty and dance, and those bodies that are not "perfect" may burst out amazing vitality. "Dance itself is a small thing, what matters is the person who dances. That kind of raw, clumsy, undefined, that desire to get involved, is particularly moving. ”

The Su ren dance theater "Yo-Yo Horizon" is a pure youth work. Directed by song Xinxin, a well-known street dancer, and Li Ran, a well-known hip-hop dancer, and Li Ran, the average age of the creators and actors is not more than 30 years old. This is also another new work incubated by the "Shanghai International Dance Center Theater Youth Incubation Platform".

"In fact, there is not a lot of dance on the stage, but everyone can see the essence of dance, the part that moves people the most." I think the audience can also really understand what the meaning of dance is through this work. Chen Li said that this is the first self-made work of the Shanghai International Dance Center Theater, and this project also shows an open dance attitude. As the only professional theater dedicated to dance art in China, the National Dance Theater is trying to peel off the essence of dance through this project and convey the concept that everyone can dance, "beauty" is not only a fixed standard, ordinary people can stand on a professional stage and impress the viewer with their own limbs and dance - the stage belongs to everyone who loves dance.
