Ye Shijie has a soft spot for the culture of overseas Chinese in Taishan

He is the managing director of Taishan Dali Candy & Toy Co., Ltd. and the chairman of Taishan Yongya Huating Real Estate Co., Ltd.; Recently, accompanied by Mr. Ye Shijie, we walked into the Taishan "Art Gallery" to taste the magnificent artistic charm of "China's No. 1 Overseas Chinese Hometown".

Overseas Chinese architecture is a treasure of overseas Chinese culture

Ye Shijie told us that in the art gallery, various art exhibitions will be introduced to introduce the historical and cultural characteristics of Taishan throughout the year. For example, in the special exhibition "Shadows of Overseas Chinese Hometown", a series of photographic works show the colorful and colorful overseas Chinese architectural art in Taishan, which deeply attracts the attention of readers. Overseas Chinese Western-style buildings and watchtower buildings are a beautiful business card of Taishan, the hometown of overseas Chinese, they condense the deep attachment of generations of overseas Chinese who have crossed the ocean to their hometown, and still exude a deep charm after the baptism of time and years. Founded by Ye Shijie, Pinyi Gallery Art Space showcases the history of overseas Chinese in Taishan to the public by holding various art exhibitions, cultural exchanges, lectures and training, and developing derivatives in the form of modern art, and is committed to the inheritance and promotion of overseas Chinese culture in the new era.

Build a bridge for cultural exchanges at home and abroad

As an entrepreneur in business, why did you come up with the idea of getting involved in the preservation of local culture? Ye Shijie said that this was due to a visit to Malaysia. It was in 2017, the Ningyang Association in Penang, Malaysia sent an invitation to celebrate the 186th anniversary of the establishment of the association, and Ye Shijie, who was the president of the Taishan Overseas Chinese Youth Association at the time, was invited to visit George Town, Penang, where overseas Chinese live together, and through the introduction of Professor Zhang Rouen of Aesthetics and Economy, Ye Shijie visited overseas Chinese organizations such as Ningyang Association, Xinhui Association, Wufu Academy, Gold Bank and Luban Bank. In order to retain and inherit the essence of the traditional crafts of the Chinese nation, he invited the famous Chinese photographer Wu Xiaopeng to fly to Penang, Malaysia three times for in-depth interviews and shooting, and to record and shoot the traditional wood carvings that have survived nearly 150 years of history in the form of images in the way of modern art presentation, telling the historical stories of overseas Chinese. On the afternoon of October 19, 2019, under the planning of Ye Shijie, Taishan Pin Art Gallery Art Space exhibited for the first time "Telling the Time of "Lubanxing" in Penang with Images" Wu Xiaopeng Photography Art Exhibition was grandly opened. The historical culture left by the ancestors of Taishan in Nanyang shocked the latecomers, and with this exhibition, the Taishan Art Gallery has also become a blockbuster in the cultural circles.

Today's exhibition is for tomorrow's conservation

Ye Shijie also introduced to us his proud work: "The Shadow of the Overseas Chinese Years" exhibition. On the one hand, this overseas Chinese art exhibition focuses on the architectural carving art of "Lubanxing" in Penang in a microscopic form, reproducing the essence of Taishan people's craftsmen, and on the other hand, it focuses on the architectural photography works of overseas Chinese buildings and watchtowers that have been vicissitudes for a century, showing the beautiful scenery of Taishan and telling the history of overseas Chinese in the past century.

We all know that a high-level art exhibition requires not only good curators, but also good artists, and the combination of Ye Shijie and Chen Jinbo perfectly illustrates this. Chen Jinbo, a well-known photographer in Dongguan, received a strong response and rave reviews after his photography exhibition "Looking for the Mark of the Sea" - Chen Jinbo's Art Exhibition, which was exhibited at the Taishan Art Gallery. We learned that photographer Chen Jinbo used his spare time to travel all over the representative overseas Chinese towns and villages in Taishan, photographed almost all the representative old western-style buildings and watchtowers of overseas Chinese in Taishan, and finally selected more than 50 works to be exhibited in the art gallery art space. More than 50 excellent photographic works were exhibited on site, using image language to express, display and tell the story of the old buildings in Taishan. Ye Shijie commented that Mr. Chen Jinbo's photographic works are vivid and vivid, avant-garde in concept, and willing to innovate, using a new image language to express, display and tell the story of the old buildings in the hometown of overseas Chinese, scattering between various towns and villages, with different shapes, wonderful ideas, and bringing together different architectural styles of Western European countries in various eras, frozen in an instant, and presented in the elegant gallery in the form of artistic micro-spray, so that the long-dormant buildings can be rejuvenated in the city.

Use overseas Chinese culture to bring overseas Chinese closer to their feelings

Ye Shijie has high hopes for every exhibition of the art gallery, and he sincerely hopes that with the joint efforts of the Taishan Municipal Government and overseas Chinese in Taishan, more overseas Chinese and young people can be attracted to deepen their understanding and knowledge of their hometown with new perspectives in a modern way, and see the style of the motherland and their hometown in a new chapter of history under the new normal. Ye Shijie loves his hometown Taishan deeply, loves it really, for more than 20 years, he has deeply rooted the enterprise in Taishan, and his footprints have also traveled all over the mountains and rivers of his hometown, he deeply feels that the beauty of Taishan overseas Chinese is unique in a hundred years, and he also unconsciously embarked on the public welfare road of voluntary promotion of overseas Chinese culture and conscious protection of overseas Chinese culture. In 2014, under the active preparation of the Taishan Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government and the Municipal Overseas Chinese Bureau and the Municipal Federation of Overseas Chinese, the Taishan Overseas Chinese Youth Federation was established. With culture and architecture as the foundation, we will unite overseas Chinese youth at home and abroad to contribute to the prosperity and development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in the development opportunities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
