Procter & Gamble's Dan Bisi was accused of multiple stains on tampons!

Recently, a consumer posted a complaint on social platforms saying that there was no tampon in the Tembis Easy Derivation Catheter Tampon he purchased, and there were debris on the outside of the catheter and the inside of the package, which the consumer suspected was "dried blood".

TAMPAX is a feminine care brand owned by Procter & Gamble. In response to this matter, on April 23, the relevant person in charge of Danbis responded to the reporter of Nandu Bay Finance Society that according to the batch number provided by the consumer, the factory record of the product is fully qualified. The person in charge said that the brand has been actively keeping in touch with consumers, and it is impossible to judge for the time being because the samples involved have not been obtained so far.

Complaints:

Consumers say that the Danbis catheter tampons do not have tampons

The catheter and packaging were stained

Miss Zheng from Guangdong told a reporter from Nandu Bay Finance Society that on February 3 this year, she bought three boxes of Danbisi easy derivation tube tampons in Tmall supermarket, each box of seven tampons, costing a total of 51.9 yuan. The product pictures provided by Ms. Zheng show that the box of Danbisi was produced on March 25, 2023, and it is claimed to be imported from Europe and the United States.

On April 15, when she tore open the packaging of a catheter tampon, she found debris on the outside of the catheter and on the inside of the bag, and there was no tampon inside the catheter. For these debris, Ms. Zheng suspected that it was "dried blood", and was worried that the catheter was a plastic tube with blood stains that had been used, "hoping to find out whether there was a situation where the manufacturer reused the tampon plastic tube".

The photos provided by Ms. Cheng show that there are obvious brown stains on the handle part of the catheter and on the inside of the outer packaging of the product.

Ms. Cheng then opened another box of brand-new Danbiss catheter tampons and found that the catheters inside were all tampons. So far, Ms. Cheng has not found any more problematic catheter tampons.

Ms. Zheng said that on April 19, Procter & Gamble replied to her that the company had inquired about the batch number of the product involved and said that the product was normal and had no problems. Procter & Gamble asked the consumer to send the product in question and offered to refund and send a new box of the product to Ms. Cheng. However, Ms. Zheng has not sent back the products involved for the time being, "I am afraid that they will not admit it after taking the evidence." If there is a credible organization or a third party that can help with testing, I am very willing to send it to them."

Ms. Zheng told a reporter from Nandu Bay Finance Society that Procter & Gamble last contacted her on the evening of April 21, and the other party said that it would let the factory investigate, which would take about 30 days.

Not long ago, on April 19, Procter & Gamble released its financial report for the third quarter of fiscal year 2024 (2024.01-2024.03). According to the financial report, during the reporting period, Bao Clean's sales increased by 1% year-on-year to US$20.2 billion, and the net profit attributable to the parent company increased by 11% year-on-year to US$3.754 billion.

Brands such as Danbis, Hushubao and Pampers all belong to P&G's Baby, Feminine & Family Care segment, which is P&G's second largest revenue segment, accounting for 24% of revenue in Q3 of fiscal year 2024. According to the financial report, in Q3, the price of the sector increased by 2%, the sales volume fell by 3%, and the net sales decreased by 2% year-on-year to 4.936 billion US dollars, and it was also the only sector with a decline in net sales. However, the net profit of this segment increased by 8% year-on-year.

The reporter of Nandu Bay Finance Society noticed that in Q3, Procter & Gamble increased prices across the board, among them, the Grooming sector had the highest price increase, at 10%;

In the quarterly earnings call, Procter & Gamble CFO Andre Schulten said that in Q3, organic sales in Greater China fell by 10% year-on-year, and sales of high-end skincare brand SK-II in Greater China fell by about 30%. It is worth noting that P&G executives have pointed out that sales in Greater China and SK-II have declined significantly for two consecutive financial quarters. According to Andre Schulten, the top priority is to establish category consumption in China and resume business growth, and go all out to accelerate SK-II's growth in China.
