In order to prevent criminals from escaping with guns and injuring people, the Wuji County Public Security Bureau asked the county party committee and county government to inform the townships and villages that the militia masses had set up checkpoints and interception at key roads, and on the other hand reported the facts of the case to the public security organs at a higher level -- the Shijiazhuang District Public Security Department and the Hebei Provincial Public Security Department -- and requested the dispatch of criminal investigation and technical investigation forces to provide support.
At 3:00 a.m. on February 28, the responsible comrades of the Wuji County Party Committee and County Government rushed to the scene to make comprehensive arrangements and inform the townships and villages to organize the interception work and contact the nearby garrisons to help investigate the blockade; at about 5 o'clock, the hebei provincial public security department and the Shijiazhuang District Public Security Department sent reinforcements also rushed to Nanma Township (the reinforcement team included three police dogs and 3 trainers "Alyssa", "Yiming" and "Ke"). Subsequently, a special command center for the "2.27" major gun theft case, attended by responsible comrades of the provincial, prefectural, and county public security organs, was formed on the spot and the investigation and handling of the case was carried out in three ways: The first road, with the cooperation of local government organs and garrisons, controlled the traffic arteries and blocked and tracked down the criminals; the second road continued to investigate the scene and discover and extract the traces and physical evidence left by the criminals when committing the crimes; and the third road went deep among the masses to carry out investigations and thorough investigations and find clues and traces of criminals.

The scene of the crime - the militia arsenal is located in the northeast corner of the Nanma Township Government Compound, divided into two rooms, the outer room is the duty room, and the inner room is the weapons depot. The door lock of the gun magazine and the lock of the No. 2 gun cabinet were pried open, and an arc-shaped dent was found at the lock head, and it was presumed that the crime tool was a round metal rod.
Because the house is paved with cement floor (the conditions in this township are good), and because many people enter the house and the footprints are complex and layered, it is extremely difficult to identify. Overcoming great difficulties, the technical detective policemen finally extracted the footprints of 5 different characteristics in front of the No. 2 gun cabinet by using backlit side-photography and careful investigation inch by inch with great perseverance. Subsequently, 4 kinds of footprints of personnel who had entered the scene were repeatedly compared, and only one missing wavy pattern footprint could not find the "owner".
According to the township mayor's report, on the night of the crime, the masses were organized to watch the film near the compound of the township government, and the cadres and policemen who investigated the scene immediately expanded the scope of the investigation, and as a result, after some effort, a vague oval indentation was found outside the southeast corner of the township government, and on each side of the indentation was a pair of overlapping footprints with the outward toes of the toes, one of which was the same as the broken footprint extracted at the scene of the crime, and the other was a thick oblique line pattern. After repeated measurements and comparisons and experiments with a Type 63 automatic rifle, it was confirmed that the oval indentation was formed when the Type 63 automatic rifle stock was docked, and the footprint was left when jumping off the wall. It is thus determined that the wavy pattern footprints and the thick oblique line pattern footprints are the footprints left by the criminals.
Based on the on-site investigation, the special case command made the following judgment:
The criminal is familiar with the situation in the township government courtyard, and the burglary is 1 person, which may be a local who colludes with outsiders to commit a crime.
The criminals are 2 young men in their 20s, 1 wears a size 42 wavy pattern shoes, about 1 meter 7 tall, and the other wears a size 42 thick oblique pattern shoes, about 1 meter 65 tall, due to the existence of false edges in the shoe print, it may be caused by the small foot wearing large shoes. But the possibility of a third offender is not ruled out.
The criminal's goal is clear, that is, to steal the gun, and the purpose of stealing the gun should be to engage in new criminal activities.
On the morning of February 28, the on-site investigation team found an iron rod with a length of 65 centimeters and a diameter of 1.6 centimeters in a well 250 meters southeast of the central site, and the iron rod was stained with green paint debris at one end, which was the same as the green paint composition on the gun store door after inspection, and the arc-shaped dents at the scene were formed by the on-site simulation and reduced by the iron rod prying, and the masses identified that the iron rod was the rear shaft of the concave plate on the threshing machine produced by a certain agricultural machinery factory in Wuji County. It can be determined that the iron rod is the tool of the crime, and the two shoe prints left by the criminals have been found near the scene of the crime tool.

In order to better complete the confirmation of the escape route of the criminal, the special case command ordered 3 police dogs to join the battle, and the route tracking began with the footprints at the well as the starting point of the sniffing source. In addition to 3 police dogs and 3 trainers, the tracking squad also has 3 scouts and 2 footwork trackers.

Since then, the tracking of the source of sniffing has been intermittent, and whenever it encounters a road and river blocking trace, the squad will disperse to search for a new sniffing source point in a large area of fan surface, and 8 team members and 3 police dogs will overcame many difficulties after more than 9 hours of hard work, tracking all the way for 40 miles, and arriving at Shilipu in Jinxian County on the evening of March 1. Analysis of the trail followed concluded that the offender had fled in a south-easterly direction.

However, after the masses visited, the members and villagers all said that it should not be him, because Li Xiangjun usually spins yarn, weaves and cooks at home, and he will not do the work that the grandfathers should do anyway, but he will do the work that the ladies should do. Ping Su rarely goes out, rarely speaks, and blushes and shy when he sees people talking, and is a well-known "fake girl" in the village. Does he dare to steal a gun? Who believes it - and the shoes he usually wears are 40 yards, which does not match the 42 size shoe prints left at the scene.
However, the police did not easily rule out the suspicion of Li Xiangjun, but instead conducted further investigations of his parents and sister in the name of helping to find the missing Li Xiangjun in order to obtain more details. His sister said: Li Xiangjun has a pair of 42 size plastic bottom cloth shoes, which is a new shoe she bought for her brother in the Gaotou Supply and Marketing Agency not long ago, because there was no size 40 size at that time, so she bought a size 42, Li Xiangjun liked this pair of shoes, often worn on the foot, and because his right foot has six toes, so the right foot wearing a size 42 shoe is better than the left foot "fit".
The scout specially drove to the Gaotou Supply and Marketing Agency to "requisition" a pair of shoes of the same cloth for comparison, and when he saw that the sole of the shoe was indeed a thick oblique line pattern, Li Xiangjun's suspicion of committing the crime suddenly became bigger. However, for the sake of prudence, it was decided that the police dog would identify it again. Taking the footprints of the thick slanted line pattern shoe prints as the source of sniffing, taking a leather shoe worn by Li Xiangjun as the object of appreciation, and casually finding the shoes of 4 other unrelated people as a reference object, the police dog "Yi Ming" first sniffed the source, and then sniffed the 5 shoes in turn, and as a result, "Yi Ming" sniffed Li Xiangjun's leather shoes and ran to the trainer in front of him and put them down. Once was not enough to explain the problem, the result was that 1 shoe worn by Li Xiangjun and 4 new unrelated shoes were changed to let "Yiming" sniff again, and as a result, "Yiming" once again effortlessly took out Li Xiangjun's shoes.

In addition, the day after the incident, Qin Tongyin, a village cadre in Nanma Village, took the initiative to report to the special case headquarters: His son Qin Jianyou, who was 20 years old at the time, left home in the evening of the same day to go to the township government to watch a movie and did not return for one night, Qin Jianyou did not live with his parents but lived alone in a house, Qin Tongyin went to knock on his son's door after dawn the next day and did not see the door open for a long time, and forcibly knocked the door open only to find that there was no one in the house, so he hurried to report.
The police then searched Qin Jianyou's residence, extracted the same wavy shoe prints on the ground inside the house as the crime scene, and on the open space opposite his house was a production team threshing machine, which was inspected and the rear shaft of the threshing machine was removed, leaving fresh scratches on it, and wavy shoe prints on the ground. The iron rod found was placed on the recessed plate, and the seam was tightly closed, and it was determined that the iron rod was the original part of the threshing machine.
Based on this, the special case command listed Qin Jianyou as a major suspect.
Immediately afterward, the special case headquarters was transferred from Nanma Township to the county seat of Jinxian County overnight, and immediately held a case analysis meeting in Jinxian County without stopping to analyze the possible hiding places of Li Xiangjun and Qin Jianyou. Judging from the identified escape route for the 2 offenders, the escape route of about 40 miles is a nearly straight southeast line, indicating that the 2 people are carrying a map or refer to the compass. In this direction, criminals are likely to flee to the southeast coast.
The police calculated that there had just been a sleet and the road had become very muddy and difficult to navigate, and if 2 criminals were walking day and night (walking on the road with a long Type 63 automatic rifle in the daytime was simply writing "I am a bad person, go to the police" on their faces), 3 nights could walk about 170 miles. According to this calculation, the two criminals may have arrived at the area of Nanzhiqiu Township (present-day Nanzhiqiu Township) in Shulu County at dawn on March 2.
The special case command decided to lay the first interception line in the area of Nanzhiqiu in Shulu County, and the second interception line in Ji County and Xinhe County, which extended 50 miles to the southeast. At 2 o'clock on March 2, the Shulu County CPC Committee convened an emergency meeting of the leaders of the county public security bureau, procuratorate, court, and other departments, as well as the county armed forces department, and after the meeting, the village cadres of Nanzhi Qiuxiang and Guo Xi Township, 40 miles away from the county seat, were notified to immediately organize villagers and militiamen to guard the main intersections.
