A prince named Murong Yan (Lin Qingxia) wants to find Poison Xi to kill Dong Evil, because Dong Evil abandons Murong Yan's sister Murong Yan. At the same time, Murong Yan came to stop The Western Poison from killing the Eastern Evil. "East Evil West Poison" successfully opened up a new Martial Arts film in Hong Kong, which seems to have been not realized at the time. The flamboyant personality of "East Evil and West Poison" makes the characters extremely well placed, and the ingenious and rather black humor plot subverts the traditional martial arts movies. One day 10 years later, Wong Kar-wai suddenly had the inspiration to re-edit this work that did not do well at the box office that year, but was regarded as a classic by fans. It took 4 years and cost tens of millions of yuan, "East Evil west poison: the ultimate version" appeared, when it reunited with the audience, there is only one clear proof of a real classic, it will never disappear with time, some things, absolutely like wine, the longer the more mellow.
As Liu Jialing said, she did not understand it 14 years ago, and now she understands it. The biggest feature of "East Evil west poison: Ultimate Edition" seems to have corrected the previous whimsical and jumpy and wayward expression, the plot and dialogue are not affected, but after re-editing, the narrative is clearer and smoother.
The biggest change in the film is actually in the audiovisual effects. The color of the image processed by technology is more intense, blue sky, white clouds, yellow sand, clear water, the morning and dusk changes on the desert present magnificent colors, and the slightly rough picture of the imaging particles gives people a texture of oil painting.
Another thing to say is that after watching the film, you will still be in a trance: costumes, action, all-star lineups, Zhang Yimou, Chen Kaige in recent years, these things that Wong Kar-wai has done more than ten years ago, and compared to the emptiness of some works, "East Evil and West Poison" is much more meaningful.
