A video shows that the pads on Tesla's accelerator pedal may slip off and get stuck in the interior of the car, causing the pedal to be "100% pressed and locked at full throttle," prompting Tesla to temporarily halt deliveries of the model and recall every Cybertruck. Now, a video shot today at a Tesla event in California and Tesla's own repair instruction document confirms the riveted installation of the riveted pedal with rivets and shows us exactly how to do it.

While the video posted by Aaron Cash on X called it a "35-second recall fix" demonstrated at the "CyberTakeover" event in Long Beach, the required drilling fixtures were already in place at the beginning of the video.

After placing it on the pedal, Tesla workers drilled a hole as specified and installed a rivet to secure the pedal pad so that the pedal pad would not fall off due to "unapproved alterations" during the manufacturing process, which would have made the pedal pad slippery than expected.

Tesla's service bulletin revealed that there were a number of other necessary steps in the process, including measuring "the distance between the bottom of the aluminum accelerator pedal pad and the bottom of the pedal floor before work began." If the bottom of the pedal pad is 5mm or more away from the bottom of the pedal, then they should replace the entire pedal assembly.

Once the restoration is complete, technicians inspect the work with mirrors and clean up any debris left on the customer's truck worth more than $99,000 during the work.
