The Australian Aboriginal is one of the oldest surviving cultures on the planet and, by statistics, one of the longest-imprisoned cultures. Archie Moore's "relatives and friends" are both evidence and reminders of these facts. This chalk mural on the chalk traces the relationship between the Kamilaroi and Bigambul people more than 65,000 years ago, including the common ancestor of all humans. Educational materials refer to the transmission of knowledge and the omission of history. Two of the words in the picture illustrate the revival of indigenous languages, while the hole foreshadows the severance of family ties by colonial invasions, massacres, disease and displacement.

The central reflecting pool is also a hollow, a monument to the death of Aboriginal people under state custody, with piles of coroner's reports. Archie Moore also added archival records of relatives to show how colonial laws and government policies were imposed on Indigenous people over time. These bureaucratic documents documenting the tragedy are surrounded by genealogical reflections in the surrounding water. The artist uses his family history to make the viewer unconsciously feel the existence of systemic problems, while reminding people that we are all relatives.

Dorantina Castellati's installation, composed of metal sculptures based on walnut shells used as ingredients in Turkish cuisine, explores feminine labour and inequalities in the workplace, echoing the theme of this year's Venice Biennale, "Outsiders Everywhere". By investigating the deindustrialization of the economy and the deregulation of the labor market, the artist found that (non-)material forms of precarious employment in light industry after the 1999 Kosovo war, such as gendered labor in industries such as food production, put women economically vulnerable and pushed them to the political margins. The various components of Dorantina Castellati's work are both symbolic and alluding to the alienation of working-class women, respecting first-person narrative and generating deep associations.

Golden Lion Award for Best International Exhibitor at the Theme Exhibition: Matajo Collective

The Golden Lion Award for Best International Artist at the 60th Venice Biennale "Outsiders Everywhere" theme exhibition was awarded to the art collective, the Mataaho Collective.

The Mataaho Collective, made up of Māori female artists Bridget Reweti, Erena Baker, Sarah Hudson and Terri Te Tau, has been collaborating for a decade on large-scale fibre installations that delve into the intricacies of Māori life and body of knowledge. The takapau in this exhibition refers to a finely woven mat that is traditionally used in rituals, especially during childbirth. In Māori, the womb has a sacred meaning as a space for the baby to communicate with the gods. Takapau marks the moment of birth and symbolizes the transition between light and darkness, Te Ao Marama (realm of light) and Te ao Atua (realm of the gods). The levers they use in the installation reflect the careful selection of materials that are both safe and supportive of the transport of goods, as well as affordable and easily accessible. This deliberate choice honors often overlooked laborers, highlights the power of interdependence, and pays homage to a legacy worthy of recognition. The Takapau installation can be viewed from multiple angles, and its intricate structure is complemented by light and shadow on the woven pattern, creating a multi-sensory experience.

Their exhibits, located in the first room of this year's Vishuang Armory Venue, said, "I hope that when young people and those who want to make art in the future see our work, they will find that there are no boundaries between them and Māori or Māori practitioners." Whatever they do, it matters. You can be inspired by the work of our ancestors, along the continuum of valuable artistic creation, and it really is a way of talking about who you are. ”

最具潜力青年艺术家银狮奖:卡莉玛·阿莎杜(Karimah Ashadu)

The Silver Lion Award for the Most Promising Young Artist in the 60th Venice Biennale "Outsiders Everywhere" theme exhibition was awarded to British-born Nigerian artist Karimah Ashadu.

Karima Ashadu was born in London in 1985 and lives and works in Hamburg and Lagos. Her work focuses on labour and practices in relation to the social, economic, and cultural context of Nigeria and its diaspora communities. He has exhibited and screened at international institutions, including Kunsthalle Bremen, Tate Modern in London, Secession Kunsthalle Vienna, Kunstvein Hamburg, South London Gallery, Museum of Modern Art in New York, and Centre for Contemporary Art Geneva. In 2020, Karima Ashadu founded her own film production company, Golddust by Ashadu, which specializes in artist films about Black culture and African discourse.

Karima Ashadou, Robot Boy, 2024

Her latest video work in 2024, "Robot Boy", depicts a motorcycle taxi in the big city of Lagos, commonly known as "okada". In 2022, due to multiple accidents involving Okada and the inability to regulate its informal economy, the government imposed a ban where passengers and drivers would be sentenced to prison. In Robot Boy, Ashadou elaborates on the aftermath of this ban while portraying the daily rituals and challenges faced by Okada's riders. The knights embody a special masculinity through fashionable clothing and confident, powerful behavior. Through his exploration of patriarchal ideals in Nigeria, Ashadu links manifestations of masculinity to the vulnerability of the precarious working class. She screened the film in a purple room, inspired by the flashing headlights of a cyclist. This is also the first time that Ashadou's work has been exhibited at the Art Biennale.

特别提名奖:萨米亚·哈拉比 & 荞拉·波夫莱特

The Special Mention Prize for the 60th Venice Biennale "Outsiders Everywhere" theme exhibition was awarded to artists Samia Halaby and La Chola Poblete, respectively.

Born in Jerusalem, Samia Halaby is one of the most important living Palestinian artists and the first female professor at the Yale School of Art. Since the late 50s of the 20th century, she has been recognized as a pioneer of abstract painting and Arab modernism for her outstanding academic contributions.

Influenced by the Russian avant-garde art movement, Samia Halabi's artistic practice has always been a source of inspiration for her painstaking exile abroad, and she firmly believes that new methods of painting can not only redirect the way people see and think in the field of aesthetics, but also contribute to technological progress and social culture.

Samia Halabi, Black is Beautiful, 1969

His work in this exhibition is the oil painting "Black is Beautiful" (1969). The work aims to explore the limitations of observing objects as they are, a habit that she believes is forcibly instilled in academia. In this work, Halabi explores perspective, prompting the viewer to examine the circular edges. The painting directs the eye to the rounded curves of the cross. Once the gaze rests on the edge of the curve, it is invited to linger – the viewer's gaze is drawn to a specific point on the canvas. The exploration of the nuances of form, shape, and edge is academically motivated, and this abstract painting adheres to the artist's exploration of the formal and conceptual elements of abstract art. It was also the first time that Samia Halabi's work was exhibited at the Venice Biennale.

Born in Mendoza, Argentina, La Chola Poblete is a multidisciplinary artist and one of the country's most important living artists, having won the title of Deutsche Bank's "Artist of the Year".

Buckwheat Povlet uses her critical lens to examine the impact of colonialism and white supremacy in Argentina, using performance, photography, video, painting and sculpture to address the repressive structures and sufferings of the Argentine colonial era. She restores ancestral knowledge in South America by creating complex queer imagery, while at the same time, she rejects stereotypes and exoticism of indigenous peoples.

The work of Buckla Powlett

Our Lady is a central, multifaceted theme in the artist's work, embodying the fusion of Western culture with indigenous communities. In it, the canonized Madonna also has its attributes as a pop icon. The Martyrdom of Chora (2014) explores the social marginalization of Bolivian communities living in Argentina and the use of proselytizing as a form of emotional and physical torture. This is also the first time that Buckla Poufflet's work has been exhibited at the Venice Biennale.

In an interview with the media, the Italian Minister of Culture said: "I speak Italian, and the Italian Minister of Culture must of course speak Italian when answering questions from reporters. The Venice Biennale is Italy's most important cultural window and an important window for Italy to showcase its art to the world. We wanted to create a new platform to showcase Italian culture to the world. Culture is the most important core of our country.
