Retirement: The biggest takeaway from writing is not money

I registered a self-media account more than five years ago, and during this period, I have been writing intermittently, and I have stopped updating for a long time in the middle.

It wasn't until he retired at the end of October last year that he really took the operation of the account as his own business and insisted on changing it every day.

With the frequency of posting, I will read the articles I post every day, whether it is my husband or daughter.

In the past month, my husband has often mentioned to me that the picture on the article I posted is old and overlaps with the picture in the previous article.

I had to explain that because I had to post every day, there weren't so many new photos available.

So, every time my husband goes out, no matter where he goes, as long as he encounters a scenery that he thinks is good, he must take a picture with his mobile phone and then send it to me through WeChat.

He didn't want my essay to be flawed and helped me avoid that as much as he could.

The same goes for my daughter, who went to school in the UK, and once, when we were chatting in a video, we discussed my article, and she said that my article fell into a kind of strange circle, and she often repeated it in several articles on a topic.

It's like cooking, this time I made scrambled eggs with tomatoes, and next time I made scrambled tomatoes with eggs, turning over and over again, just these two ingredients. She asked me, can't you give everyone something new?

"If you do that, you're only going to attract some new fans, and you're going to lose old ones. ”

I admit that my daughter was right. Most people who do self-media will encounter such a situation, see the data of an article explode, and then write a few more articles based on this topic.

It seems that the content has changed, but the theme expressed has not changed in essence.

This also made me realize that I had deviated from the original intention of writing, and began to run after the traffic like many account owners.

My daughter's words pulled me back from the course I had strayed and I began to rethink my own direction of writing.

Retirement: The biggest takeaway from writing is not money

Of course, what changed my life the most in writing was not my family's attention, but more importantly.

My husband and I are both the kind of people who are not good at expressing themselves, and under the long-term influence, our daughter is not good at expressing emotions.

My husband and I have been married for many years, and we don't have much communication at a deep level together, so sometimes we don't know each other's true thoughts on some issues.

This leads us to misunderstandings and disputes on some issues.

When I started writing, I needed to show my true self in my essays, and often wrote about my inner feelings, likes and dislikes about certain things, and some obsessions with life.

In reading my articles, my husband's understanding of me gradually increased.

A few days ago, I wrote that I went to the Qing bar at night to play, and for the traditional husband, I think, he must not understand.

However, after my husband saw what I wrote, he did not blame or judge, but wondered why he was not interested in such an environment.

This also made me realize that in marriage, only when two people fully understand each other can they understand some seemingly unreasonable behaviors of each other, and only then can they get close to each other and truly understand and tolerate.

When I first wrote, I didn't think about that, I just wrote for the sake of writing.

This understanding is also reflected in the parent-child relationship.

My daughter often said that our home is a place where we are not good at expressing feelings, everyone wraps themselves very tightly, she has grown so big, she has never heard me and her father say a word to her: "I love you".

At one point, she doubted our feelings for her.

But in my writings, from my fragmentary thoughts about daily life, from the minutiae of some of my words, she felt our concern for her, and felt an emotion that we had never spoken.

This gives her a sense of security that allows her to explore the unknown without any worries.

She knew that behind her, there was a large stable rear that could carry everything she had, including successes and failures, joys and sorrows.

Retirement: The biggest takeaway from writing is not money

I've been sticking to the daily update account for half a year, and I am very happy to see the changes that writing has brought to my family.

Sometimes, writing is not only about having an income, but more importantly, it is a process that allows me to continue to explore myself and understand myself, which is a process that allows me to become full and mature.

In this process, my relationship with my family has become more harmonious and friendly, and this is the biggest gain of my writing compared to financial income.
