On the occasion of the 29th World Book Day, the Pu'an Branch of Qianxinan Xinhua Bookstore Co., Ltd., together with the First Primary School of Panshui Street in Pu'an County, the National Hope Primary School of Nanhu Street, the Primary School of Longxi Shiyan in Xicheng District and the Primary School of Siyuan Experimental School, launched the 2024 World Book Day activity of "I am a Xinhua 'little bookworm'".
Cultivating students' interest in reading is the key to making them lifelong readers. At the event site, the students held recommended books in their hands, and carefully recommended them to the book friends based on their own reading feelings, reading literary works such as "How Steel is Made", "Anne on the Green Gable", "Harry Potter", etc., and exchanged their own feelings and thoughts in the activity, which improved the students' reading level and expression ability.
"The book I recommend to you today is "How Steel is Made", in which the protagonist Paul Kochagin has the noble qualities of perseverance, bravery, broad-mindedness, and loyalty to the Motherland. I also want to learn from him and be like him. Today, I came to participate in this "Xinhua "Little Bookworm" activity, which allowed me to see and learn more books. In the future, I will participate in more activities like this and strive to learn more knowledge. Zhang Endi, a student in the third grade (4) class of the first primary school in Panshui Street, Pu'an County, said.
In addition to recommending books, students also read freely in the bookstore and enjoyed a good reading time with their book friends. In addition, each book recommendation officer also brought their essay with the theme of "My Story with Xinhua Bookstore", which recorded their reading story. In order to motivate students to read and write, Xinhua Bookstore awards outstanding essay writers, encouraging them to actively read, absorb rich materials, and transform their excellence into their own writing content.
"We are holding this World Book Day event to advocate reading for all, so that everyone can participate in reading and improve the quality of reading. A total of 20 students from 4 schools participated in the event, which took the opportunity to read more books, stimulate students' interest in reading, and cultivate students' lifelong reading habits.
