Microsoft has recently been adding new features to its OneDrive cloud storage service. However, the latest examination of the OneDrive Android app's recent beta internal code suggests that the company may be on the verge of adding a highly anticipated feature.

According to the Android Authority, a number of code strings containing the "import_cloud_files" tag were found after an APK teardown of the code inside the OneDrive v7.4 Beta 1 Android app. Some of these strings specifically mention other cloud storage services, including Google Drive, Google Photos, and Dropbox.

The report also said that the code string in the OneDrive Android beta app shows that users can start the import process without leaving OneDrive. Other strings show that the transfer continues even if the OneDrive app is closed.

This development will undoubtedly help users who may use more than one cloud storage service, but want to quickly consolidate files, images, and videos into a single account.

Microsoft hasn't officially mentioned plans to add this feature to OneDrive, and the code string found showing unannounced features in the APK teardown doesn't mean that the features will be released, as Microsoft may cancel their development before the features are rolled out to the public.

As we mentioned, Microsoft has been paying more and more attention to OneDrive lately. In January of this year, Microsoft began rolling out a new user interface for OneDrive individual users. A few weeks ago, Microsoft also announced some new features for Microsoft 365 Basic users, including an expanded personal vault.

According to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap website, in May, users who access OneDrive on the network will be able to use the company's Copilot AI assistant if they have a paid subscription to Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365.
