Yuan Heyu, whose name is Qiming (1879~1958), a native of Xiongxian County, Hebei Province, a famous medical scientist in the mainland, a physician in the late Qing Dynasty, once served as a doctor in Cixi, with extremely clever medical skills and thorough medical theory, and was good at treating a variety of incurable diseases in internal medicine. After the fall of the Qing Dynasty, he practiced medicine in the capital and saved countless people. When Yuan Heyu was a child, his family was better off and he received a better education. However, when he was 14 years old, his parents unfortunately contracted an illness and died in two months. After this change, his family was in the middle of the road, he was poor, displaced, and seriously ill, but fortunately he was able to recover with the support of his relatives and neighbors. After learning from the pain, he hated not knowing medicine for his life, so he decided to study medicine to help the living.
Due to his good cultural skills, Yuan Heyu taught in a wealthy school, and taught Chinese medicine by himself in addition to teaching, laying a very good theoretical foundation of Chinese medicine.
1903 was the year he changed his fate. He was successfully admitted to the Medical Center of Beijing Normal University and began to receive systematic and formal education in traditional Chinese medicine. He cherished the rare opportunity to learn, forgot to sleep and eat, studied the classics, read all the schools, and had a very deep understanding of the origin, evolution, development and theories of Chinese medicine. At the same time, he also actively accepted the views of Western medicine and natural science, broadened his thinking, increased his knowledge, and cultivated a very deep medical foundation.
In 1906, he graduated with honors and was subsequently admitted to Qingtai Hospital at the age of 27. Yuan Heyu was known for his ability to treat typhoid fever in the Tai Hospital, and soon became the imperial physician of the Empress Dowager Cixi, and also served as a teacher. After the Xinhai Revolution, he served as the chief physician of the internal medicine department of the Neicheng Government Hospital. In 1933, he became a professor at the North China Medical College. Since 1935, he has been hanging pots in the capital and has treated countless patients.
Yuan attaches great importance to the study of the basic theories of traditional Chinese medicine, which is rare among many doctors.
