At present, the layers of seedlings and mountain flowers and plants in Nanxiangtangshan Forest Park reflect each other, making people never imagine that the original place is actually a barren mountain.
Today's Fengfeng "pushes the window to see the green, goes out to see the scenery", and the green ecological welfare is at the doorstep of the masses, which is thanks to the vigorous implementation of the mine restoration work. In recent years, Fengfeng Mining Area has adhered to the overall idea of "ecological priority, conservation and intensive, green and low-carbon development" to promote mine restoration. Since the implementation of the comprehensive renovation project of Nanxiangtang Mountain, more than 6,000 acres of greening area have been restored, more than 150 seedlings of various types have been planted, and the "bald head mountain" with vertical and horizontal ravines and no grass has been built into the "back garden" of the city with flowers in three seasons and scenery in four seasons of "spring flowers, summer shade, autumn fruits and holly". The number of mines in the region has been reduced from 50 to 9, the proportion of large and medium-sized mines has increased to 71%, and the industrial concentration has reached 88.4%, and the level of protection and conservation and intensive utilization of mineral resources has been greatly improved, creating a new path for green and low-carbon transformation and development in resource-based areas.

Fengfeng mining area adheres to the standardization of mining, actively promotes the transformation of mining methods, and in accordance with the idea of "adapting measures to local conditions, one mine and one policy, piloting first, grasping points and areas, and jointly submitting for approval and pressing forward", through continuous concentrated attack, the province's demonstration mine - Handan Jinyu Taihang Limestone Mine took the lead in realizing the transformation of "cross-cutting" mining mode, and achieved the results of "greatly reducing the difficulty of repair, reducing the slope angle, reducing the hidden danger of geological disasters, increasing recoverable reserves, and increasing construction land". In October 2023, the provincial non-metallic open-pit mine "cross-cutting" mining and mine restoration and management site will be held in the Fengfeng mining area, effectively promoting the implementation of the "cross-cutting" mining of non-metallic open-pit mines in the province.
Coordinate the development of open-pit mines, barren mountains and gangue mountains. Through measures such as grading and sharpening platforms, building ditches and building ridges, and backfilling of guest soil, the ravines have been turned into flat rivers and the mines have been covered in "green", and all 98 historical mines have been brought under control; the PPP reserve forest project has been implemented, and all 80,000 mu of barren mountains have been covered with green through measures such as aerial seeding, artificial afforestation, and fish scale boarding; and 16 coal gangue mountains in the whole region have been restored, so as to achieve full coverage of covering, spraying, soil covering, greening, and rainwater collection. Through the "Three Mountains Governance", the forest coverage rate of the whole region has increased from 15% to 33%, and the green coverage rate has reached 55%.
The ecological restoration of mines is aimed at green development. Fengfeng gave this answer: adhere to the market orientation, combine the actual ecological restoration work of the mine, and develop characteristic industries to enrich the people according to local conditions. In accordance with the business model of "company + farmer", encourage and guide agricultural enterprises and large afforestation households to plant high-efficiency cash crops such as Chinese herbal medicine and economic forests according to local conditions, and cultivate more than 10 local agricultural brands such as Shouguan, Shanyou, and "Xiangtang Selenium-rich".
At the same time, Fengfeng aimed at the problem of high and steep slope (white stubble mountain) governance, broke the limitation of "simple regreening", innovatively combined bare mountain management with Cizhou kiln culture, and created a large-scale mountain relief with a length of nearly 1,000 meters and a height of 20 meters.
