On 16 April, Lian Maojun, Secretary of the District Party Committee, carried out forest patrols and went to the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City to investigate the construction of the National Meteorological Science and Technology Park. Lian Maojun came to the National Meteorological Science and Technology Park to learn more about the planning and construction of the project, and emphasized that it is necessary to accelerate the construction of the project on the premise of ensuring quality and safety to ensure that it is completed and put into use on schedule.

It is necessary to take the National Meteorological Science and Technology Park as the carrier to promote the development of meteorological science and technology industry, promote the construction of meteorological culture, do a solid job in meteorological science popularization, strengthen the in-depth linkage with the surrounding cultural and tourism scenic spots, and strive to build the park into a "meteorological business card" with the characteristics of the new area.

As part of the strategic cooperation agreement signed between the Tianjin Municipal Government and the China Meteorological Administration, the National Meteorological Science and Technology Park project is currently under construction. The National Meteorological Science and Technology Park is located in the Sino-Singapore Eco-City of Tianjin Binhai New Area, and its completion has enabled Binhai New Area to reach the leading level of meteorological technology, business and service capabilities in China. After completion, the biggest highlight of the science and technology park is the "Meteorological Science and Technology Museum", which will cover the elements of the "Water Drops in the Clouds" of the World Meteorological Pavilion of the Shanghai World Expo and the surrounding supporting science corridor and green space, and add more content to show the development process of China and the world's meteorology.

The "National Meteorological Science and Technology Park" project is mainly responsible for the construction and implementation of the Tianjin Meteorological Bureau, and the planning of the science and technology park includes five key sub-projects, namely, the construction of the Binhai New Area Meteorological Early Warning Center (Bohai Rim Marine Meteorological Center), a new generation of weather radar towers (stations), a national marine meteorological observation instrument research and development test base, a national meteorological science and technology research and development experiment and practice base, and a meteorological science and technology museum.

According to relevant sources, the completion of the National Meteorological Science and Technology Museum is the biggest highlight of the National Meteorological Science and Technology Park, because the museum is not only for meteorological scientific research services, but also linked to tourism, which can allow people to participate in interesting meteorological activities at close range. In the future, people can walk into the meteorological science and technology museum to understand the formation of thunder, light, hail and wind through the simulation experiments of sound, light and electricity, so as to further improve the public's understanding of meteorology and enhance the awareness of disaster prevention and mitigation in the whole society. After the completion of the National Meteorological Science and Technology Park, the daily number of tourists is expected to reach up to 3,000.

After the completion of the National Meteorological Science and Technology Park, it will become a demonstration area for the modernization of meteorological business, a landscape area for meteorological exploration, science popularization and sightseeing, a pilot area for meteorological science and technology innovation, a cultivation area for meteorological science and technology talents, and a display area for the development of meteorological science and technology culture. It will give full play to the role of meteorological science and technology in responding to meteorological disasters and promoting economic development, and create a representative "meteorological business card" in Binhai New Area.

Renderings of a new generation of weather radar towers

In May 2023, the main structure project of the new generation weather radar tower of the Binhai New Area Meteorological Bureau was successfully capped. Located in the second phase of the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City's National Meteorological Science and Technology Park, the project mainly consists of a new weather radar tower with a building height of 98 meters. After the completion of the Meteorological Radar Tower, it is expected to become a landmark building in the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City, and promote the meteorological technology, business and service capabilities of Binhai New Area to reach the leading level in China. The project will provide meteorological detection and forecasting for the Bohai Sea, the Yellow Sea and North China.
