According to Final Fantasy 16 DLC Director Takeo Kujiraoka, Final Fantasy 16 has managed to attract more young people to the series.
Before the game's release last year, Square Enix said they decided not to include turn-based combat in the game in order to appeal to a wider market. Takeo Kujiraoka told Push Square that Final Fantasy 16's action-combat system helped SE achieve this goal to some extent.
Takeo Kujiraoka said, "In recent years, players of the Final Fantasy series have tended to be older than others. However, this time there are survey results that show that more teenagers and people in their 20s are playing Final Fantasy 16. I think it shows that, to a certain extent, we've achieved one of our original goals – to make the latest Final Fantasy games accessible to players of all ages. ”
Takeo Kujiraoka also said that this does not mean that all future Final Fantasy games will take a similar direction to Final Fantasy 16, but they have confirmed that it means that we have been able to attract new players and open up new possibilities for the development team responsible for the subsequent installments of the series in the future.
