Studies have found that people who have this problem before the age of 45 are more likely to get cancer years later!

I often hear people say that they went to the physical examination and found a mild fatty liver, and they think it is not a big deal, just pay attention, but a friend told him that mild fatty liver should not be taken lightly, and if it is not well controlled, it may also become hepatitis or even liver cancer!

And a new study recently found that if you have fatty liver before the age of 45, you're much more likely to develop cancer after that year than everyone else!

Studies have found that people who have this problem before the age of 45 are more likely to get cancer years later!

People who had fatty liver before the age of 45

Cancer is more likely to occur years later

The incidence of fatty liver is very high, and it can account for 20%~30% of the population. Many people choose to ignore fatty liver because it is a benign disease, which is not right, because fatty liver that has accumulated for many years can also cause steatohepatitis and fatty liver cirrhosis, and liver cancer may occur on the basis of liver cirrhosis, so we should pay attention to fatty liver!

A recent study published in JAMA Network Open found that people who develop fatty liver before the age of 45 have a greater risk of developing various cancers for many years to come.

The study, which came from researchers at Beijing Shijitan Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University in mainland China, followed 63,000 people for a long time.

Of these, 31,848 (50%) were patients with fatty liver disease and 31,848 (50%) were control populations without fatty liver disease. All participants had no cancer at the time of enrollment, with an average age of 51 years and 17.2% were women.

During more than 10 years of follow-up, a total of 2415 new cancers were presented. Among them, those who were diagnosed with fatty liver at the age of < 45, 45~54 and 55~64 years old:

1. The overall risk of cancer is increased by 52%, 50% and 13%, respectively;

2. Increased risk of digestive system cancer by 100%, 94%, and 13%, respectively;

3. Increased risk of liver cancer by 166%, 116%, and 27%, respectively;

4. Lung cancer risk increased by 114%, 97%, and 31%, respectively;

5. Colorectal cancer risk increased by 105%, 189%, and 5%, respectively.

The final study found that if fatty liver disease was avoided before the age of 45, the risk of cancer in the second half of life could be reduced by 17.83%. After suffering from fatty liver, if timely intervention or treatment is carried out, it will help reduce the risk of cancer in the future.

It should be noted that many people have no symptoms of mild fatty liver, or even moderate to severe fatty liver, and a very small number of people will experience drowsiness, fatigue, dry mouth, and bitter mouth, but the vast majority of fatty liver symptoms are not obvious.

Whether it is mild, moderate or severe fatty liver, it is more important to pay attention to whether it has inflammation and fibrosis. If inflammation and fibrosis occur, it is considered progressive fatty liver disease, and the risk of liver cirrhosis and liver cancer increases.

Once fatty liver has symptoms and discomfort, it often indicates that the degree of liver inflammation is relatively serious, and even reaches the stage of liver cirrhosis and liver cancer. Therefore, do not wait for symptoms of fatty liver to seek medical attention, once the physical examination finds that fatty liver is present, you should go to a specialized hospital to assess the condition and seek professional guidance.

Simple fatty liver disease can be reversed by controlling diet and losing weight, and the basic treatment for fatty liver is a healthy lifestyle, such as healthy diet and scientific exercise. If there is significant inflammation or fibrosis, anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective, and anti-fibrotic therapy is indicated. Therefore, the treatment method is to evaluate the patient's condition and then formulate the next step.

Keep your mouth shut

Control diet: low-sugar, low-fat diet, balanced diet, increase dietary fiber. Eat more grains, miscellaneous grains, and whole grains, and eat less polished rice noodles.

Studies have shown that eating a diet rich in resistant starch can alter gut bacterial composition and reduce triglyceride levels associated with liver damage and inflammation, as well as liver enzymes. Resistant starch is mainly found in foods with high starch content, such as: whole grains, legumes (lentils, peas, red kidney beans), potatoes, green bananas.

In addition, after starchy foods are cooled, some of the starch that has been gelatinized returns to the state of raw starch, a process called "retrogradation", in which starch can produce resistant starch, such as cooled rice and potatoes.

Step out

1

Step out

Control waist circumference, aerobic exercise 3~5 times a week, and reduce sedentary time.

Do some strength training to increase your basal metabolic rate and speed up fat burning.

2

Control your weight

Overweight and obese patients need to lose 5%~10% of their current body weight in the first 6 months.

There is now a lot of evidence that fatty liver can be improved in patients who lose 5% of their body weight, and inflammation and fibrosis can be improved in patients who lose 10% of their body weight.

In addition, in addition to weight loss, it is also necessary to abstain from alcohol, as excessive long-term alcohol consumption may lead to alcoholic fatty liver disease.

Health Tips:

1. If fatty liver disease can be avoided before the age of 45, the risk of cancer in the second half of life may be reduced by 17.83%.

2. The vast majority of fatty liver symptoms are not obvious.

3. Once fatty liver is found during the physical examination, you should go to a specialized hospital to evaluate the condition and seek professional guidance.

4. Simple fatty liver disease can be reversed by controlling diet and losing weight.
