In the minds of Cantonese people, herbal tea is "life-sustaining water", and some people describe it as "not water but herbal tea flowing in the body of Cantonese people".
However, some stores exaggerate the "curative effect" of herbal tea by adding Western medicine, and illegally make profits, bringing health and safety hazards to consumers
On April 11, the Guangdong Provincial Market Supervision Bureau issued a food safety risk warning, prohibiting the illegal addition of drugs to herbal tea.
Herbal tea is a general term for traditional Chinese herbal herbal beverages, and Guangdong has always had the habit of drinking herbal tea due to its climate, water and soil characteristics, as well as the dietary habits of Cantonese people, which is also an important part of Lingnan culture. In recent years, a small number of unscrupulous merchants have illegally added Western medicine to herbal tea in order to improve the efficacy of herbal tea on colds, "clearing heat and detoxifying", "reducing fire" and "dispelling dampness" to attract consumers and increase sales.
In order to regulate the production and sale of herbal tea, the Guangdong Provincial Market Supervision Bureau issued a food safety risk warning: herbal tea business needs to obtain a food business license in accordance with the law, and operate according to the scope of the food business license, and relevant operators need to strictly implement the main responsibility of food safety to prevent and control food safety risks.
It is illegal and criminal to add Western medicine containing chemical ingredients in the process of processing and making herbal tea. If you find food violations and crimes, please call 12110, 12345, 12315 for complaints and reports.
Consumers should pay attention to drinking herbal tea
1. Buy herbal tea from regular channels to drink. When consumers drink herbal tea, they should purchase it through formal and legal channels or in stores with relevant qualifications, and if necessary, check whether the label identification of herbal tea products is formal and legal, and whether the herbal tea store has obtained the qualification of food business license in accordance with the law.
2. Don't be overly superstitious about the efficacy of herbal tea. Herbal tea is not a drug, and consumers should treat herbal tea as an ordinary food when drinking herbal tea, and should not pursue or overly superstitious merchants to promote its efficacy.
3. There are also contraindications for drinking herbal tea. After all, herbal tea is made of Chinese herbal medicine, so you should pay attention to the needs of the person when drinking it. Spleen and stomach deficiency, the elderly, children, pregnant women and lactating women should take it with caution. Even in healthy people, excessive consumption of herbal tea can cause spleen and stomach discomfort and gastrointestinal diseases. Therefore, herbal tea should not be taken indiscriminately, and it should not be taken for long-term treatment purposes.
If consumers find that the herbal tea shop is operating without a license, or suspect that the herbal tea shop has illegally added prohibited substances, they should report it to the public security organ or market supervision department in a timely manner.
In addition to adding drugs to herbal tea, some black-hearted shops quietly add poppy powder and poppy husks to food in order to "enhance flavor and fragrance", which is easy to make people addicted

The chef was reported for planting opium poppies for "flavoring"! It is illegal to grow any of these plants
According to research, the rumored effect of poppy husks in "enhancing flavor and flavor" is not obvious. People who eat poppy husks for a long time will have symptoms such as chills, sweating, fatigue, and thin facial muscles, and in severe cases, it may cause damage to the nervous system and digestive system, and even endocrine disorders.
If you find these three situations, please be vigilant
1
Suspected poppy husks or seeds and other unidentified spice substances were found in the food.
2
Abnormal sensations such as excitement, rapid heartbeat, and redness of the face after eating.
3
The taste is average, but I just want to eat it.
In addition, as long as you are not sure about the food, you can collect some of the food (preferably the bottom soup with less oil, not less than 50mL) and send it to the local drug testing agency or the public security criminal technology testing department for composition analysis.
Food safety regulators have been cracking down on the illegal addition of poppy husks, and ruthlessly adding poppy husks to food will be subject to these penalties
1. Article 71 of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Public Security Administration Punishments: Anyone who illegally transports, buys, sells, stores or uses a small amount of opium poppy husks shall be detained for not less than 10 days but not more than 15 days and may be fined not more than 3,000 yuan;
2. According to the Food Safety Law of the People's Republic of China, if the illegal acts of a catering enterprise cause personal injury to consumers, they will also face civil liability for compensation to consumers.
I would like to remind everyone that we should enhance the awareness of drug rejection and anti-virus, and if you feel that your body or consciousness is obviously abnormal after eating, or if you find illegal use of poppy shells, please call the police in time to ensure your own safety!
