At the time of his arrest, Li was the abbot of the temple and had already given birth to children.

At the end of March 2024, the Lucheng police received a clue that Li, a fugitive from a murder case that occurred in a hotel in the city in 2001, may appear in the Jieyang area of Guangdong. However, based on this vague clue alone, it is obviously impossible to determine whether the fugitive is on the ground or not. As a result, Lin Bin, Wu Yeting, and Wu Kai, members of the task force, immediately set off and drove more than 1,000 kilometers to Jieyang, Guangdong.

After arriving in Jieyang, the members of the special case continued to narrow down the scope of investigation on the basis of the vague clues in the early stage, and carried out meticulous inspections year by year, month by month, and day by day on every piece of information that might be useful.

However, among the clues in hand, the appearance of the monk is similar to that of Li 23 years ago. The monk claimed to be surnamed Liu and was the person in charge of the temple. In order to further confirm the identity of the monk, the task force carried out a secret investigation and visit to the temple while re-examining and judging the monk's life trajectory and relationship behavior. After careful analysis, the police found that the monk's identity and trajectory were very suspicious.

Relying on a fake identity, Li hid from the world and even became the abbot of the temple all the way. However, Li is a "monk" to the outside world, living privately with a woman as husband and wife, and has a son and a daughter. In order to avoid the investigation of the public security organs, Li went out to disguise himself, and even installed surveillance around the temple. Li has been incognito for 23 years, cutting off all contact with relatives in his hometown, before the police found him, Li was preparing to pack his luggage and leave Guangdong to flee to Tibet, but the legal net was restored, negligent but not leaky, Li was finally arrested by the police.

On April 3, the Lucheng police escorted Li back to Wenzhou after 9 hours across three provinces, and the two 23-year-old homicide cases in Wenzhou and Ningbo were successfully solved.
