On April 10, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 1,280 Invitations to Invitations (ITAs) for regular category applications through Express Entry, with a screening score of 549!
The Express Entry regular category score is the third highest in five years, a 25-point increase from the last one, the first increase in scores after three consecutive months of score drops since January, and the highest score so far in 2024.

After this lottery, the number of candidates with more than 500 points in the EE candidate pool still reached more than 10,000, and the number of candidates has only increased. In the short term, it may still be difficult for regular invitations to drop below 500.
As far as the current score situation is concerned, taking an international student as an example, with a bachelor's degree, under the age of 30, with one year of 0AB work experience in Canada, and a full score of IELTS 7.5/8.5/8.0/7.5, the total EE score will be 474 points;
It can be seen that the current undergraduate/master's degree + 1 year of work experience is not enough at all!
The pool of federal EE is soaring, and the nomination threshold for provincial nominations has been raised to varying degrees. Take British Columbia and Ontario, which international students are more concerned about, as examples:
B.C. requires an employer offer to graduate a master's degree in order to apply for the BCPNP's master's pathway
There is no requirement for employer offers for the master's degree pathway in Ontario for the time being, but it is still unclear whether this will change in the future.
For candidates with a score of less than 500 points, we really can't hesitate anymore! We must hurry up to improve our scores, brush up on English, brush French, add 600 points to the provincial nomination invitation, add points to the LMIA, etc. Or change to other channels, the longer it drags on, the more uncertainties will increase the immigration.
