At 7 a.m. on April 14, the 2024 Beijing International Long-distance Running Festival - Beijing Half Marathon (hereinafter referred to as the "North Half Marathon") started in Tiananmen Square. As the official and exclusive insurance sponsor, GCL Life Insurance Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "GCL") provides insurance coverage with a total insurance coverage of approximately RMB 18.8 billion for all participants, staff and volunteers. As an international marathon with a history of 68 years and a gold medal marathon event in China, the northern half marathon starts from Tiananmen Square and ends at the Landscape Avenue in the Olympic Central Area. Nearly 100,000 people from 42 countries and regions participated in the pre-registration, setting a new record for the number of pre-registrations in the previous North Half Marathon.

As a classic event with professional organization, safety and order, and thoughtful service, the safety of the runners and staff has always been the top priority.

In this year's competition, GCL formulated an exclusive insurance plan and underwriting plan for the Northern Half of the Marathon, providing personal accident insurance protection for 20,000 participants and 12,000 race staff, with a total insurance amount of about 18.8 billion yuan, comprehensively protecting every participant and staff of different ages. Coverage items include accidental death/accidental dismemberment, accidental medical treatment, sudden death and acute illness medical public insurance amount, with a maximum sum insured of up to 300,000 yuan per person.
Professional on-site service to open a green claim channel
In order to fully protect each participant, GCL has set up a professional claims and service team of nearly 50 people to provide full insurance support on site.
The group insurance channel of Sino-Italian Life, which underwrote the event, has served nearly 8,000 well-known domestic and foreign enterprises, including many Fortune 500 companies, for a long time, and its professionalism has been widely recognized by customers and all walks of life. In order to provide more convenient and considerate services for the contestants and on-site staff, GCL has specially opened a green claim channel, and for small emergency medical cases that end treatment on the same day and the medical expenses are less than 5,000 yuan, the claims specialist will provide on-site direct payment services, and send professional claims adjusters to a number of designated hospitals to provide insurance support to the participants in the first time.
In the sponsor service area at the finish line, GCL provided warm-hearted services such as post-race stretching, health consultation, and number bib plastic sealing for the finishers, making the "Zhongyi" service more deeply rooted in the hearts of the people.
