Mercedes-Benz is undoubtedly the leader of high-end brands, but in China, Mercedes-Benz's electric car sales are generally worrying. Zhiyi Auto learned from Mercedes-Benz dealers that the cash discount for the current EQS is generally more than 300,000 yuan, and the cash discount for some models is more than 400,000 yuan, and the maximum is 480,000 yuan.

On April 11, Mercedes-Benz's all-electric flagship sedan EQS made its world premiere. However, in terms of actual changes, the changes to this car are not too big.

Compared with the old model, the biggest change in this car is that the classic Mercedes-Benz S-Class logo and horizontal grille have been transplanted to the front face of the EQS.

In terms of battery, the new Mercedes-Benz EQS uses a 118 kWh high-capacity battery, while the old model uses a 111.8 kWh battery. The new Mercedes-Benz EQS has a range of 683km-822km in WLTP mode, but compared with the old model of 720km-813km, the CLTC pure electric range (km) does not seem to have improved much.

In addition, the new EQS has a 380kW top-of-the-line motor with a maximum torque of 855Nm. What's more, the new EQS doesn't change much in terms of smart configuration.

2. Radar may limit the level of intelligent driving, and regenerative braking has no absolute advantage

When Mercedes-Benz launched the EQS in 2021, there were media reports that the car would be equipped with LiDAR in the future. However, it is still unknown whether the new EQS will be equipped with lidar after entering the country.

However, the interior of the Mercedes-Benz EQS still continues to be Mercedes-Benz's usual standard, clean and simple, luxurious and quite modern.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS will be equipped with a set of regenerative braking software, which allows the EQS to recover more energy, thereby improving the range. But is this system really competitive with the Mercedes-Benz EQS's range of just over 800 kilometers and the power that does not change much?

3. The involution of new energy highlights the disadvantages of BBA, where is the pure circuit of Mercedes-Benz

To be fair, the Mercedes-Benz EQS is a car that offers excellent comfort and space. In this generation, the seats of the Mercedes-Benz EQS have also been upgraded, with the backrest foam thickened by 5mm, and the seats with adjustable angles have improved comfort.

However, the comprehensive performance and intelligence level of Mercedes-Benz EQS do not seem to have an advantage in China's new energy vehicles. If the weight and drag of the top-of-the-line Mercedes-Benz EQS model do not change much, then its acceleration is about the same as the old model's acceleration of 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds.

This level is obviously not excellent compared with the current independent new energy vehicles that can accelerate to 100 kilometers in 3 seconds. In terms of battery life, in recent years, independent brands will launch a variety of pure electric models with a range of more than 1,000 kilometers. In comparison, the Mercedes-Benz EQS has a range of 822 kilometers in WLTP mode, although it is not bad, but it is not outstanding.

What's more, after today's price reduction, the entry version of the Mercedes-Benz EQS is also priced as high as 528,000. Coupled with the EQS's somewhat cute rounded shape, it lacks aura compared to the gasoline version of the Mercedes-Benz S, making it more difficult to cater to the taste of large-sized luxury car consumers.

In short, if Mercedes-Benz wants to reverse the decline of the EQS, it can't just focus on the front grille and the logo. Bringing some configurations and experiences that can be seen and felt to consumers can truly turn around the reputation of EQS.
