The reporter learned that hand network roasting is one of the easiest and most convenient roasting methods for coffee roasters, that is, roasting mature beans from raw coffee beans, which is mainly divided into five steps: bean selection, bean washing, roasting beans, cooling, and storage. Because each step requires one's own hands-on involvement, hand-to-hand roasting is a test of patience and carefulness for coffee lovers, but it can also bring them a 100% experience.

The green coffee beans provided in this competition are mainly from the two producing areas of Nujiang and Lancang in Yunnan, and you can choose according to your taste preferences and master the heat according to the roasting degree required by the green beans. At the scene, the contestants were divided into groups of four and went on the field in turn. The reporter saw at the scene that in addition to professional baristas, there were also local Shanghai citizens and coffee lovers wearing traditional costumes of other ethnic groups to participate.

Mr. Lu, a citizen, is one of them. As a veteran coffee lover, he knows a lot about the origin and taste of the beans, but this is the first time he has come into contact with the method of roasting on the net. "It was very interesting, when I came here for coffee, I heard that there was such a competition, so I signed up, thinking that I could learn through this form of 'competition training', and then I could roast, grind and brew coffee beans at home. Mr. Lu said.

It is worth mentioning that in order to ensure the fairness and impartiality of the competition process, the competition invited managers from many well-known coffee institutions and gold medal winners of coffee competitions around the world as judges for this event. At the scene, they scored the contestants' baking techniques, sensory aroma, visual experience, etc., and finally added up the individual scores to select the gold, silver and bronze winners.

Zhu Shichao, the manager of Jardine 1915 Cafe, said that the cooked bean products roasted by the contestants will be cupped this Wednesday. In addition, we also set up a "coffee market" on the side of the competition area for passing Yangpu citizens to taste. "I believe that this will become a beautiful scenery of Yangpu Riverside. ”

"Because of Coffee, So Shanghai", as the theme of the first Shanghai Coffee Culture Week held in March 2021 shows, coffee culture has become a trend. It is believed that more coffee events will be held in Yangpu in the future, which will be integrated with the urban development of Yangpu.
