HAGUE/WUHAN, April 14 (Xinhua) -- This year's Valentine's Day, Eric Zandberghen of the Netherlands ordered a Chinese new energy vehicle, the Dongfeng Lantu Dreamer. The Zandbergen family became the first owners of the Chinese electric utility vehicle (MPV) in the Netherlands.

When asked why she chose to buy a new energy vehicle in China, Ellen Zandbehen's wife said: "First of all, it's good for the environment. Secondly, the car is safe and important for families and children. The car is good, big and safe, and the price is right. ”

"When I'm ready to turn right or left, change lanes, the car has cameras that automatically give me a hint. If someone is next to the car or has a blind spot, "the car will also give a warning," Ellen said as he demonstrated.

European dealers took a fancy to Chinese cars at a glance

Like the Zandbehchens, more and more European consumers are choosing to buy Chinese new energy vehicles for the same reasons.

Edgar Bugau, technical manager of Dutch car dealer Gomes, told reporters: "Whether in terms of quality, intelligence or luxury, China's new energy vehicles have opened up new horizons for us. ”

Founded in 1934, Gomez has been an authorized dealer of the German car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz Group in the Netherlands. In April last year, Bugao and his colleagues saw the Dongfeng VOYAH MPV "Dreamer" on display at the Shanghai Auto Show and took the initiative to contact them to become a dealer of VOYAH in the Netherlands.

Half a year later, VOYAH officially entered the Dutch market and plans to gradually expand to Belgium and Luxembourg with the help of Gomes' sales network.

Boy Gomez, a staff member of Gomes, believes that the market for electric vehicles in Europe is growing, and many Chinese car brands are coming to the Netherlands. "The electric cars produced by Chinese manufacturers are excellent and are popular in European countries such as the Netherlands. ”

Chell Ruijing, head of the Gomez Group's VOYAH brand in the Benelux countries, told reporters that there are currently four dealers selling VOYAH cars in the Netherlands, and VOYAH will also sell them in Belgium in the second half of this year, and the sales category will gradually expand to sedans, sports utility vehicles (SUVs) and other models.

Helping the world move towards a greener future

In the interview, Ellen asked Chinese automakers a question that interested her: Why is China's new energy vehicle industry developing so fast?

Ellen got out of the car and walked to a tulip field and said seriously: "If you can really bring my problem to Chinese new energy vehicle companies, I am willing to give them this beautiful scenery of this flower field as a gift." Thanks to China's new energy vehicles for helping us move towards a green future. ”

With Ellen's question, a reporter from the Hubei Branch of Xinhua News Agency walked into the VOYAH Automobile Assembly Workshop in Wuhan Economic Development Zone, found Lu Fang, CEO of VOYAH Automotive Technology Co., Ltd., and asked him to answer.

Lu Fang said that China is the world's largest exporter of automobiles, "on the one hand, because China's automobile industry has been developed for 70 years, and has sufficient accumulation in R&D and design, quality control and personnel training; on the other hand, after decades of cultivation, China's automobile has a first-mover advantage in key areas such as new energy, electrification, and intelligence, and at the same time, the new energy vehicle industry chain has been relatively perfect, and a leading new energy system has been built." ”

In 2023, global NEV sales will exceed 14 million, with China accounting for nearly 65% of NEV sales. China has ranked first in the world's new energy vehicle production and sales for nine consecutive years. About a quarter of new energy vehicles sold in the EU this year are made in China, according to a study by the European environmental group Transport and Environment Group. Among them, Chinese brand electric vehicles will account for 11% of the EU electric vehicle market, and this proportion will increase to 20% by 2027.

"The strong momentum of the electric vehicle market is key to achieving global climate goals. The rapid development of China's new energy vehicles is leading the global transportation energy transformation and transformation, and promoting the low-carbon and zero-carbon development of transportation. European users are very environmentally conscious, which is highly compatible with VOYAH's philosophy. ”

VOYAH entered the European market in 2022 and is one of the "national team" brands of new energy vehicles going overseas. At present, VOYAH has entered Norway, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, and Bulgaria. Lu Fang said that this year, VOYAH will also land in Italy, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Spain, Germany, Portugal and other European countries.

Regarding the beautiful scenery of the Dutch tulip field presented by Ellen, Lu Fang said that he would like to give back to her the beautiful scenery of the cherry blossoms in Wuhan, and thank European users for their support and trust in China's new energy vehicles. "Like you, we believe that China's vigorous development of new energy vehicles is helping the world move towards a greener future. ”
