Sandstorm is a kind of intense, large-scale meteorological disaster, is due to drought and water shortage, land desertification, vegetation destruction and other man-made or natural factors, resulting in the enhancement of surface wind erosion, wind and sand activities are frequent, when there is a strong cold air or extratropical cyclone and other weather system influence, it will roll up the surface of the sand, the formation of sandstorm. Sandstorms not only affect air quality and reduce visibility, but also cause serious damage to transportation, communications, agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, etc., and even pose a threat to human health. On the afternoon of April 13, the Mongolian cyclone and the large yellow sand area on the south side were clearly visible on the satellite cloud map in the afternoon, and the sand and dust will be swept to North and Northeast China tomorrow.
The main reason for this sandstorm is that a cold air pushed southward from Siberia and Mongolia, and after passing through the Mongolian Plateau, a Mongolian cyclone gradually formed, which drove Mongolia's sand and dust and transported it to the mainland, and began to affect many provinces and regions on the mainland. According to the monitoring data, since April 12, the cold air has been rushing through the Hexi Corridor, from the Tianshan Mountains to the Badain Jaran Desert, with gusts of wind reaching 12~13.

At present, the sandstorm has advanced to Inner Mongolia, Ningxia and Gansu, PM10 monitoring data on the evening of April 13 show that PM10 concentrations at many stations in Ningxia, Gansu, Inner Mongolia have exceeded 500, and even more than 3,000 in Shizuishan, Ningxia, this morning, when the dust front just arrived, the PM10 concentration in Jiuquan was even close to 10,000 points.
The sandstorm is characterized by a wide range and high intensity, the Central Meteorological Observatory continued to issue a blue warning for sandstorms at 18 o'clock on April 13, affected by cold air and strong winds, from 20 o'clock on April 13 to 20 o'clock on the 14th, southern Xinjiang and the northern slope of the Tianshan Mountains, the central, western and southeastern parts of Inner Mongolia, the central and western parts of Gansu, most of Ningxia, northern Shaanxi, northern Shanxi, western Jilin and other places have sand or floating dust weather, including southern Xinjiang, central and western Inner Mongolia and other places There are local sandstorms.
For some places in the north, the southward movement of the Mongolian cyclone is bringing rainfall, and at the same time, it will be mixed with the sand and dust blown by the strong winds, so that in some places there may be "mud spots", that is, the phenomenon of rain mixed with sediment, and the rain of mud and ideas will make the outdoors dirty.
3. Authoritative forecast: widespread thunderstorms
This time, the Mongolian cyclone drove the cold air from the northwest to the south, but before the cold air came, many places in the north of the mainland once warmed up, and the ground was relatively warm - on April 12, the northern warming momentum was violent, and the highest temperature in Liaoning and Shanxi provinces on the same day had exceeded 30 degrees, of which 30.2 degrees in Yangshan, Liaoning Province won the first 30 degrees in the Northeast this year. It is expected that the main period of influence of the strong convection will be from today night to tomorrow day.
