The rapid change of climate and environment has brought severe challenges to the sustainable development of the mainland, and the impact on the arid regions is particularly profound. In order to promote the innovative research of geography in the arid areas of the mainland and the scientific utilization of resources in the arid areas of the mainland, and to better serve the resource management and scientific policy formulation and the new development pattern of the arid areas of the mainland, the "2024 Academic Annual Conference of the Arid District Branch of the Geographical Society of China" is scheduled to be held in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province on June 1-2, 2024 with the approval of the Geographical Society of China. The conference was hosted by the Arid Zone Branch of the Geographical Society of China, hosted by the School of Geographic Sciences and Tourism of Shaanxi Normal University, the National Key Laboratory of Loess Science, Institute of Earth Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences (in preparation), the State Key Laboratory of Soil Erosion and Dryland Agriculture on the Loess Plateau of Northwest A & F University, the Key Laboratory of Land Surface System and Resource Carrying Capacity of Shaanxi Province, Northwest University, the Ecology and Environment of the Loess Transition Zone of Yulin Desert of Shaanxi Normal University, Shaanxi Provincial Field Scientific Observation and Research Station/Key Laboratory of Shaanxi Provincial Colleges and Universities of Sand Industry/ Shaanxi Provincial Key Laboratory of Tourism Information Science, Weinan Normal University, and Anthropocene Research Branch of Geological Society of China.

2.
