Events | Call for the future! Registration for the preliminary round of the 2024 Forbes China Young Artist 100 Competition is underway

author:Forbes

This is the second year that Forbes China has launched the Young Artist 100 competition. In last year's competition, the outstanding performance of a group of young and promising artists was amazing. We have written down their educational and artistic paths, as well as their perspectives when choosing their personal growth paths. These ideas inspired us and strengthened our resolve to continue the series.

It is not difficult to see that one of the biggest risks for young people today and in the future is the risk of choosing how to educate – they are facing a very different world today than the previous generation.

In the past, the time and effort required to master a traditional or technical discipline is not worth it today. The technology and knowledge used in all fields and industries will appear in the textbooks of this generation of young people – which are proliferating today, and there is reason to believe that the rate of growth will continue to accelerate – will significantly lengthen the learning process and delay their careers.

Further, the benefits of mastering such complex knowledge are becoming increasingly difficult to match in the face of increasingly high time and education costs. On the other hand, the more targeted and subdivided the technology and knowledge, the greater the risk of technology obsolescence and industry iteration that learners or practitioners will face. Nowadays, the rapid development of AI technology and the accelerated generalization of its application have also made the uncertainty of career choices continue to increase. Washed by the tide of technology and culture, any narrative and value that we were previously convinced of beyond doubt could be reconstructed.

This leads to a question that is becoming more and more popular: can we continue the personal growth and education paths of the past few decades to adapt to today's young people, or can industries like art and culture, which rely on independent creativity and are not easily subverted by technology, bring more opportunities?

This has also become one of the starting points of Forbes China and Xiaoyan Academy of Fine Arts last year: to bring the public the exploration of the possibilities of youth growth and the diversity of educational paths by presenting a sample of young people who have devoted themselves to the art field in order to seize the upward cycle window of the cultural industry, or to obtain cross-border development opportunities through art learning.

In March this year, the "2024 Forbes China Young Artist 100 Competition" was officially launched. At present, the registration for the preliminary round is in full swing. The registration deadline for the preliminary round is May 10, and it is hoped that the young generation who are interested in stepping onto the stage of international art exchange and have the courage to challenge and break through will actively sign up for the competition.
