In this seemingly free speech era, we are surprised to find that even a world-renowned writer can be met with so much opposition and abuse for expressing his views. This writer is none other than J.K. Rowling, who created the wizarding world of Harry Potter.

Recently, Rowling made some remarks on social media saying that she would not forgive the three stars of Harry Potter – Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. She believes that the attitudes and statements of these actors on transgender issues have actually infringed on the rights and interests of women. What's going on here?
In 2020, the UK government introduced a new policy related to transgender people. One particularly striking aspect of this policy is that people who haven't had surgery but feel like they're of another gender can also be considered transgender.
As soon as this policy was introduced, it immediately aroused the dissatisfaction and concern of many women.
They worry that as a result, women's spaces, such as women's restrooms and changing rooms, may be invaded by people who identify themselves as women but are still biologically men.
In this environment, Rowling has publicly expressed her support for those who insist that their biological sex is female, and she does not approve of allowing underage children to change their gender identity too early. Rowling's stance quickly drew resentment from some supporters of transgender rights. These people began to use various means to put pressure on Rowling, and some even released her address and threatened her safety.
What's even more disappointing is that even the actors of the Harry Potter series have come out against Rowling. Among them, Emma, who played Hermione, publicly insinuated Rowling when she won the award.
And Daniel, who plays Harry, also posted that he wants to support the transgender community. Almost all of the Harry Potter stars joined the opposition to Rowling.
The only two leading actors who support her are the villains "Malfoy" and "Voldemort".
In the face of such a "betrayal", Rowling was obviously very angry and disappointed. She said that these celebrities use their popularity and influence to publicly support the gender transition of minors, which is actually a serious violation of women's rights.
She insisted that adults should not influence immature children on this issue and make them prematurely make decisions that could negatively affect their future.
For those who asked her to apologize, Rowling was even more blunt in saying that she would not forgive them. These people, she said, should leave the apology to the gender-vulnerable people who really need help, rather than use it to coerce and attack people with different views.
What is admirable is that despite such tremendous public pressure and personal threats, Rowling did not choose to give in or back down. On the contrary, she became more determined and courageous, continuing to speak out in support of her position. She even said that she would rather go to jail than give up her views and beliefs.
In my opinion, we should respect everyone's freedom of expression, regardless of an individual's stance on transgender issues. Rowling didn't make personal attacks or insults to anyone, she just expressed her opinion based on her values and beliefs.
As a successful writer and creator, she is fully qualified to express her views and opinions on this issue.
And what those actors did was very disappointing and regretful. As public figures and representatives of Harry Potter, they should have looked at this issue more rationally and objectively, instead of blindly following the trend or taking sides. They should learn to respect different perspectives and voices instead of using name-calling and threats to force others to give in or change their positions.
In modern society, being able to express one's opinions freely and have a diversity of ideas is invaluable. We should learn to respect everyone's views and beliefs, rather than suppressing dissenting voices through violence or threats. It is only when we do so that our society can move forward and become a more tolerant and advanced society.
I want to give a thumbs up and thumbs up to J.K. Rowling. She set an example for us by defending her freedom of thought and beliefs with her actions and words.
