The red wall and golden tiles carry the spring and autumn, and the red garden shows. The top of the Forbidden City sings a grand scene, and the pen and ink sing the ode to Shenzhou. In the spring of the Year of the Dragon, with a thousand-year history, Jingshan Park in the Ming and Qing dynasties of the Royal Imperial Garden is full of flowers and infinite vitality. The park is located at the core of Beijing's central axis, the highest point of the central axis, overlooking the capital, carrying civilization and reminiscing for thousands of years. On April 10, 2024, the "Top of the Forbidden City, Spring Full of Heaven" Chinese Painting Exhibition, sponsored by Beijing Jingshan Park Management and co-organized by the Beijing Royal Garden Calligraphy and Painting Research Association, was exhibited in the Guande Hall of Jingshan Park in Beijing. The three painters are famous, they inherit the tradition, continue to explore, and have the courage to innovate. After a long period of research on Chinese painting, the three artists have formed their own artistic characteristics.

The exhibition is divided into three parts, the main hall of the Guande Hall exhibits the representative works of Liu Cunhui, Ren Li and Li Xiaotian, the west side hall of the Guande Hall exhibits the works of Ren Li's Chinese paintings, and the east side hall of the Guande Hall exhibits the works of Li Xiaotian's Chinese paintings.

Liu Cunhui, the third generation of Qi Baishi's art, the disciple of Mr. Lou Shibai, the master of Chinese painting, the vice president of the National Academy of Ethnic Painting, and the academic dean of the Beijing Shiqi Painting Academy. His freehand flower and bird works are wonderfully composed and blended with ink and color, dripping and hearty. A series of works such as "Spring Rain at Your Heart", "Flowers Bloom and Wealth", and "Spring Glow" have successfully combined the colors of Chinese ink painting with Western painting. Liu Cunhui said in his speech at the opening ceremony, "The freehand flower and bird works I brought this time are Chinese paintings with peony as the theme, focusing on the peony festival in Jingshan Park and focusing on peony culture. Peony has always been a favorite subject of the Chinese people, painting peony is an important subject of Mr. Qi Baishi's painting, and Mr. Lou Shibai also attaches great importance to the painting of peony theme.

Ren Li is a disciple of the famous Chinese painting master Lou Shibai, one of the four masters of Loumen, deputy director of the Art Committee of the Central Academy of Painting and Calligraphy of the China Democratic National Construction Association, and vice chairman of the China Forestry Artists Association. He is proficient in the creation of freehand figure paintings in Chinese painting, with a wide range of themes and drawing on ancient and modern materials. Works such as "Three Sus on Poetry", "Dongpo Inviting the Moon", "Banqiao Listening to Bamboo" and other works pay attention to the idea, strengthen the composition, and the characters are portrayed with both gods and shapes, and the themes are clear and coordinated. From the figure paintings such as "Distant Place", "The Little Girl of the Dai Family Grows Up" and "Morning Breeze", it can be seen that he selectively draws nourishment from other types of paintings, making his works more vivid and natural. Ren Li said in an interview: "I am very honored to participate in this exhibition. The three of us have different styles, and we can hold an exhibition together in Jingshan Park, first of all, we would like to thank the leaders of the Jingshan Park Management Office, the leaders of the Beijing Royal Garden Calligraphy and Painting Research Association, and the staff who have contributed to this. Jingshan Park is the imperial garden of the Ming and Qing dynasties, with a long history and culture, and it is our honor to hold an exhibition here. My artistic creation has always adhered to the concept that art comes from life, serves the people and serves the society, and puts my emotions into my works. The figure paintings on display today are my own planned reflection of traditional Chinese culture and display in front of the audience, I hope you can like it, and I hope you can make suggestions and opinions on our works. ”

Li Xiaotian is a disciple of Mr. Qi Baishi, a master of Chinese painting, a disciple of Mr. Lou Shibai, and one of the four masters of Loumen. He is good at freehand and good at fine brushwork, and the subject matter of his works is all-encompassing, especially the grass and insects of fine brushwork. "Flowers", "Autumn Colors", "Xishuangbanna", "Invitation to Immortals" and other works depict flowers, birds and animals vividly, the works are magnificent from a distance, and the works are meticulously crafted, meticulously carved, elegant and handsome. "Keeping tradition and innovating" is Li Xiaotian's motto. Li Xiaotian said in an interview: "The Top of the Forbidden City series of exhibitions is a major cultural brand of Jingshan Park in recent years, and every year during the Park's Peony Festival, some calligraphers and painters with orderly heritage will be invited to exhibit here. In this exhibition, I have brought several different series, including the Egret Reed series, the Panda series, etc., as well as the pure Gongbi series, which show several different painting methods. The grass insect theme is a painting method that I inherited from the old man Shiraishi, and I have studied many different techniques to express the texture of the picture on the basis of tradition. The egret reed was painted by me in the past two years, and the ancient people painted the reed in a flat and stationary way, and the plant was facing one direction. However, when I went to the south, I found that the reeds grew very tall, and they were not in one direction, they were all fluttering on each other. Therefore, in my works, the reeds are interspersed and fluttering with each other, so that the beauty of nature can be reflected. I composed egrets and reeds into a beautiful picture, and in order to match the texture of the picture, I also studied a special brushwork, although it was painted on the shengxuan, but the polish was too much, and there were no brush marks. In addition, I also went to Xishuangbanna to sketch, was full of green touched, at that time in Beijing, it happened to be a sandstorm, the contrast of one yellow and one green, so that the green scenery impressed me very deeply, back a few years later, Xishuangbanna series slowly took shape. ”

This exhibition is a cultural feast of traditional Chinese ink painting presented to visitors by the "Top of the Forbidden City" cultural brand in Jingshan Park in the spring of 2024, highlighting the natural landscape of peonies blooming in Jingshan Park in spring, the cultural landscape of the historical buildings of Guande Hall and the artistic combination of Chinese paintings by the three artists. Through the Chinese painting works of Liu Cunhui, Ren Li and Li Xiaotian, it is hoped that the audience can appreciate the unique charm of contemporary Chinese painting in this garden full of spring, and at the same time, let the audience feel the beautiful artistic conception of people in the middle of the painting while viewing the paintings.
