At the junction of spring and summer, everything recovers, the wind and the sun are beautiful, the grass grows and the warbler flies, and there are more and more people who go out to travel, play in the mountains, and go to the outdoor lawn for activities. When people are doing outdoor activities in parks, forests, grasslands and other places, they are often disturbed by mosquitoes. One of the types of reptiles has a mouthpart that stabs into the skin of a person and is difficult to remove, and the bite wound has a hard center around the center and a ring of erythematous spots around it, and the itching can last for several weeks, and in severe cases, it can form ulcers and even necrosis. This kind of reptile that threatens people's lives and health is a tick. If infected with a virus carried by a tick, it can cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, bloating, chills and fever, which can lead to breathing difficulties and can be life-threatening. Tick bites not only damage the skin, but are also vectors for diseases such as plague, brucellosis and tick-borne typhus.

What are ticks

Ticks, commonly known as dog beans, grass crawlers, etc., are a general term for a class of blood-sucking arthropods, and most of the ones that invade the human body and cause harm in this group are hard ticks. The main feature of Ixodes is the flattening of the dorsal and ventral parts of the body, which is divided into two parts, the prosthetic head and the torso, which has a distinctly hard dorsal plate. After sucking blood, the body is enlarged and has the appearance of broad beans or castor beans. There are 3 pairs of young tick legs, and 4 pairs of tick and adult tick feet. It generally inhabits forests, shrubs, grasslands, semi-deserts and other areas. The range of activity is generally tens of meters, and when there is host animal activity around its habitat, it will fall or climb to the surface of the host active object, and begin to parasitic life until it is full of blood and automatically detached. Among blood-sucking vectors, ticks are second only to mosquitoes in harm's way of harming humans. Unlike mosquitoes, which only have females sucking blood, both male and female ticks need to suck blood to develop.

Tick protection

Spring and summer are the peak seasons for tick activity, and you should pay attention to personal protection to avoid tick bites when outdoors.

1. Repellents can be applied to bare skin, such as repellents containing DEET or toilet water.

2. When you are outdoors, do not lie on the grass at will, be sure to tie your trouser legs tightly, or wear a hoodie and a hat.

3. After the field activities, carefully check yourself or each other's body and clothing for ticks or crawl on, and remove ticks as soon as they are found. Once you find that a tick has bitten into the skin, do not pull hard, so as not to hurt the skin or leave the head of the tick in the skin, you should find a professional medical institution as soon as possible to take it out, and then do local disinfection treatment, and observe the physical condition at any time.

4. If you have fever, inflammation and ulceration at the bite site and erythema, go to the relevant departments in time to diagnose whether you are suffering from tick-borne diseases to avoid missing the best time for treatment. Try not to touch the body fluids of ticks, and if you accidentally touch them, disinfect them in time.
