President Xi Jinping cordially met with you and expressed his appreciation to you and the Fondation Mérieux for their long-term concern and support for the development of China-France relations and China's health cause. This year coincides with the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, and Jiangsu has always had good exchanges and cooperation with France. In particular, in recent years, we have conscientiously implemented the important consensus reached by the heads of state of China and France, and achieved new results in exchanges and cooperation in various fields. Biomedicine is a strategic emerging industry vigorously developed in Jiangsu, under the promotion of Mr. Mérieux, bioMérieux has invested in a number of projects in Jiangsu, Mérieux (Suzhou) company was officially put into operation at the end of last year, and the new factory of Changguang Huayi was inaugurated today, which can be described as a double happiness, marking a new starting point for the cooperation between the two sides. We hope to continue to deepen cooperation with the Foundation and the majority of French companies, and jointly contribute more to the higher level of China-France relations.
Mérieux recalled the deep friendship with China and the friendly cooperation with Jiangsu. He said that the Fondation Mérieux will adhere to the principle of "in China, for China", continue to cultivate China and invest in Jiangsu, serve as a bridge of friendship between France and China, and make new contributions to promoting the continuous improvement of France-China relations.
