How to distinguish between ABS fiber channel and PVC fiber channel

There are too many advertisements on the Internet about ABS fiber trough, in fact, there are very few domestic manufacturers of fiber optic troughs, most of the companies on the Internet are resale, and there are fewer companies that can produce ABS or PC/ABS fiber troughs, because the PVC fiber trough will age and become brittle after a few years, which seriously affects the optical fiber communication security of the computer room, in order not to be fooled, the following shares a simple way to distinguish between ABS fiber trough and PVC fiber trough.

1. PVC, whose scientific name is polyvinyl chloride, contains chlorine elements, and will slowly release chlorine at room temperature, and when the temperature reaches about 60 °C or above, a large amount of chlorine will be released, which is harmful to the human body. The main disadvantage of PVC is that it will age and become brittle after a few years.

PVC cannot directly produce optical fiber channels, and PVC must be doped with calcium carbonate to produce optical fiber channels. The specific gravity of PVC is about 1.33 g/cm3, and the specific gravity of PVC doped with calcium carbonate is more than 1.6 g/cm3.

2. ABS is the abbreviation of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer, which is a terpolymer composed of acrylonitrile, butadiene and styrene. ABS has excellent comprehensive physical and mechanical properties, excellent low temperature impact resistance and good stability. The specific gravity of ABS is between 1.05 g/cm3 and 1.1 g/cm3.

The alloy of PC/ABS overcomes the shortcomings of PC and ABS raw materials, carries forward the advantages of each other, and blends the two to improve the heat resistance, toughness, impact strength and flame retardancy of ABS, improve the processing performance of PC, and reduce production costs. The specific gravity of PC/ABS alloys is between 1.1 g/cm³ and 1.2 g/cm3. Because of the toxicity and easy decomposition and aging characteristics of PVC, the mainland has stipulated in the nineties of the last century that PVC shall not be used in water pipes and products related to people's livelihood. Abroad, limited to the EU RoHS2.0 directive and the requirements of low smoke and halogen-free, the use of PVC optical fiber troughs is basically prohibited. Operators in mainland China require manufacturers to provide fiber optic troughs made of ABS.
